Until I get on the MS Maasdam. I do have a question specific to MS Maasdam. Where do we check our carry-on and luggage until room is ready? Thank you.

I have never been on HAL, but on other cruises, we have to keep our carry on with us until we can get into our room. No place to "check" it. As far as the luggage goes, you leave that with the porters before boarding the ship and they deliver to your room.
On rare occasions, we have been able to drop our carry-ons in the room with the stewards permission.

On the Maasdam in October we arrived around 12:30 and went straight to the Lido. In one corner near the pool, they had a steward taking and stowing the carry-ons.

That's great news! I hope they have that service on the Oosterdam. :)
