My guess would be 4:00pm - no lifejackets.

For a 5 PM sailing -- usually lifeboat drill is at 4:15 PM.

I would expect your drill to be at 4:15 P.M. It goes much faster now without people wearing or bringing life jackets.

I'm relly pleased to hear about the new 'no life jackets' policy. Is this on all HAL ship?
Does everyone just gather by their muster stations, and wait for cabin numbers to be called out?

I beleive it is on all HAL ships and it happens about 45 minutes before sailing time.

I beleive it is on all HAL ships and it happens about 45 minutes before sailing time.It happens on all ships, but sometimes it is delayed until after the ship sails, or even the next day. It happened to us once. The requirement is just that it will be done within 24 hours.

Life Boat drill occurs on all ships in the same fashion....... no longer bring or wear life vests and attendance is no longer taken. It is still mandatory to attend.

I miss the life jackets.
It sort of playing bumper cars in gunby suits.

What are peoples guesses for a 1pm sail though we board the ship the day before? I'm curious because our CC Meet and Greet is scheduled for 30 minutes prior to sail so I'm wondering if that will be interrupted.
Thanks!

Maritime regulations require the muster be done before leaving the dock after ALL passingers and crew are on board.
I'd conside changing the CC meet to just after the muster. With no life jackets required it's easy to go righ to the meet.

Maybe I'll mention it on our roll call and see what they say. I'm not the organizer, just an attendee :-)

Maritime regulations require the muster be done before leaving the dock ...Not true. We had our muster about 14 hours after leaving Seward.
By international law, a passenger muster drill must be conducted by the ship within 24 hours of departure, but many cruise lines choose to conduct the drill before the ship departs port for the first time. It is the responsibility of the crew to ensure that a muster drill is held, and that every passenger and crew member is aware that it is being held. If a muster drill cannot be held, a report in the log book must be made stating the circumstances.

In Alaska -- we have done it both ways -- one time we had it at 7:15 PM -- made a mess of dinner!!
The other times we had it at 10 AM the next morning while we were at sea.

I truely doubt that it will be held at 12:15 during lunch time.
On a Princess cruise when we left Istanbul at 1 PM we had the lifeboat drill at 3 PM.
You might want to call Ship Services at 1 - 800 - 541 - 1576 and see if they know anything -- remember -- you may have to call them a few times and maybe you will get the right answer.
