I am enlisting your suggestions on helping my wife and me celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary,
1) We have booked a Royal Suite on the Zenith. And we will be on board on our Anniversary date.
2) I did purchase an Emerald ring in St Thomas.
Now what?
Your suggestions greatly appreciated!

You could hire a professional videographer to make a "photo montage" video of special moments in your life. Usually you get to pick a special song for you, hand over some pictures (OK a lot of pictures), and the videographer takes over from there. Your pictures will be returned to you (they are only scanned into a computer). It might cost quite a bit though depending on the videographers in your area ($100-$200). Once the videographer has completed it they burn it on to a video tape or DVD which you could play for her on your cruise.
My DH does some videography on the side (weddings mostly) and the part that everyone always loves the most is the video photo montage. Usually they love it more than the actual wedding footage.
Anyway, if you're interested in doing this and would like more information you can e-mail us off-list at jenilynday@hotmail.com
Congratulations on 30 years!

If you do the montage, which I think is a super idea, don't show it to her until the end of the evening. Her makeup will be streaming down her cheeks. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The suggestions, posted, are all wonderful. Speaking as a woman, the most touching thing you could, possibly, do would be to propose, in an appropriate setting, with an audience, of course! THEN, invite the entire ship to be present when you remarry your beautiful wife!!!!!! What a party!!! What a memory!!! Don't forget the video! Everyone will be celebrating your 30th wedding anniv., and the best thing of all, is that it will be the most memorable gift your bride could receive!!!!

For our 25th, my husband put the film of our wedding onto a videotape - now I would assume you'd want it put on a DVD. It is nice to be able to pop the tape into the VCR instead of borrowing a projector, etc.
For all you youngsters out there - yes, there was a time when we did not have CamCorders. And yes, on my first job, I had a MANUAL typewriter. And yes, I am that old. LOL

Hi,
Congratulations on the occasion of your 30th Wedding Anniversary.
Another suggestion would be to arrange to have a Renewal of your Wedding Vows. We did this and it was wonderful.
Most often Celebrity tries to have a priest and a minister to offer services at specific times during the cruise while on board.
Hope this is helpful...
Enjoy your cruise

Lois Then you must remember carbon paper??
Wow - I can't believe I'm talking like this - I can't believe I've seen so much progress in something as simple as the secretarial field. What I would've given for a word processing program back in those days. Retired to raise my family before computers became the norm on a secretaries desk. Oops - I mean on the "Administrative Assistant's" desk.
Next, I'll be talking about when fire was discovered.

Brigitte, I can remember that too!! And of course the typewritters did NOT have a correction key. We used a pencil eraser with a little brush on the other end! Argh! I'm showing my age. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Garry, how funny! I DO remember those erasers! I used to erase holes on the paper. Even worse--if you had already taken the paper out of the typwriter and had to do a correction. I never did figure out how to position the paper again!
Well, if we old coots are reminiscing, and speaking of eraser, remember cleaning blackboard erasers in school by clapping them together? I am sure that the EPA would put out some kind of alert with all that chalk dust flying around.
Fast Freddie, congratulations on your anniversary. I suggest that you try to contact the social host (or whatever the heck they are called now) and let them know you are celebrating such a special event. Dinner at the Captain's table in honor of the occasion would surely bring stars to the eyes of your lady. You may get an invite anyway since you are in the Royal Suite, but it never hurts to ask!

Linda, I think you may have hit on something. I couldn't figure out why we had been invited to the captains table because we were not in a suite nor had me met the SH. We did have down that it was our Anniversary and it was acknowleged with a cake at the table.
That's too funny about trying to line up the paper again after making a mistake. Mine always looked so bad I had to start over and type veeeeery sloooooowy. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Hey, we are on your cruise too. Flowers, ring, champagne, renewal of vows. We just did on Summit in May, also sign up for Anniversary Party, they serve a really good cake, champagne and have dancing. I think we may celebrate again, our 43rd will be in April, its okay to celebrate early. See you at Fairfield on the 4th. It sounds like a good group going.

Might ask the room steward to scatter rose petals on the bed while you are at dinner. It will be a double treat because she won't have to clean it up the next day. Might cost you a few extra bucks in tips, but I am guessing it is worth it! BTW, congratulations. She sounds like a lucky lady to have such a thoughtful hubby!
