Could someone tell me if the Zaandam has had the SOE upgrade yet? We're strongly considering a Feb. 2006 Caribbean cruise. Thanks. :)

I believe she is in drydock now. Have been assured by HA that she will have a Neptune Lounge before we sail leaving 24 April 05--but I don't have any info on the other SOE additions. You can probably find out by calling them.

She's in drydock in Freeport right now having all the same SOE amenities added that the Ryndam has. I believe she makes her first sailing with all the SOE this Saturday 1/29.

You are correct Esme - the Zaandam comes out of dry on Jan 29. She already had the Marco Polo restaurant - now the Pinnacle Grill. They added the Neptune Lounge and the new Explorations Cafe - no more Java Cafe. And the Wajang theater was done over to accommondate the new culinary arts program. Also a thermo pool was to be added.

Thanks for all the good info. We are studying our options for Feb. 2006. Would like to cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale or Tampa on a 10-dayer. Wish there were some eastern and western Caribbean sailings. So far only see 7-day trips for those areas.

Volendam has a terrific 10 So. Carib itinerary which includes some of the Eastern Carib and Zaandam is doing the wonderful 10 day partial Panama Canal So. Carib itinerary that the Rotterdam has done so many years. Ryndam is rnd trip Tampa with a great 14 itinerary including East, West and So. Caribbean ports.

I think these are wonderful options and much expanded from previous years for the 10-14 day cruise market. It looks to me like HAL is recognizing there is a great market for cruises in the Carib longer than 7 days and doing something about filling it. :D
