November 2008, I have stayed in cabin J1037 and my sister had stayed in J1043. Both of us were a family of 4. My husband and I slept in the queen size bed, daughter aged 4 slept on the pull out couch and my 7mth old slept in a play pen. It was a little tight due to the play pen but enough room for us to move around. Enough closet space and the bathroom with shower only was bigger than Princess inside rooms. In general, I found the HAL inside rooms are bigger than Princess and NCL. My sister also a family of 4 with kids aged 4&3 also found the room was not tight at all. We did not spend much time in the room, only for sleeping.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have specific questions

We were in 1059 on the Westerdam which appears to have the same configuration on the Main deck as the Eurodam. 1059 is a triple and we loved it. One of the best cabins we have had for the price.

1048 is a quad. I believe that Ruth said the only difference between the triple and the quad was that the bunk bed pulled down from the wall. Plenty of storage space.

Took a slightly rocky motion of the ocean for us to discover that there was a storage drawer at the end of each of the beds. The picture that HAL shows on the internet is exactly what the room looks like---but this is mainly true only for the Main Deck. There are some large Inside I's, but all the rest of the insides are very tiny.

We didn't find it tight at all, spacious in fact since we are much neater than my younger sister and her family - HA.:)

I"ve posted photos of J1048 on the Eurodam on Joanie's site. The room was excellent in its configuration. MUCH better than outside or verandahs for finding stuff in the closets, moving around, sitting on the useful couch. The lower deck inside meant for much smoother sailing in rough waters..the reason we had booked it.

Thanks for the opinions. :)

I'll decide in the next few days whether to jump to J1048 or stay in I6079. I'm hoping the sailing in late Jan. in Caribbean won't be too rough and I thought a higher deck would be a bit more convenient to some of the public decks and my fave HAL space, the Crow's Nest & Explorations Cafe, than being on Main Deck. The cabins seem identical in size so it's really down to a slightly larger couch and deck location that'll be the only real differnences.

I think you'll find the J cabins on Main deck considerably larger than the I on the higher deck. One is square and gives space to move around; the other is rectangular and still has the "hallway bottle neck" when you come in the door and closets are on one side, bathroom on the other.

The elevators are speedy, so book the J cabin and hop the elevator for a speedy trip to your favorite activities.

Yes, almost exactly the same size according to my research online and from HAL. I seeing cat. I cabins on Upper Verdandah Deck are approx 197 sq ft, which is almost identical to J1048 on Main Deck though it may not be as square as the cat. J cabin and will have a slightly different layout. I do hear what you're saying however about entry into the cabin.

We stayed in 1054 and our friends in 1048 last Thanksgiving. The room size was great. The only minor problem was noise from above. We could feel the bass from the disco above. This lasted until 1130 pm and like clockwork, it ended. There was also some noise like something was being rolled down a hallway in the middle of the night on a few nights (and it wasn't the passenger hallway because I went to the door and checked outside the second night it happened).

On our next Westerdam cruise, we chose 6071 to see if noise will be less of an issue. This disco was not a problem because it was predictable, and still at an early enough hour. It was the other "rolling" noise that was bothersome.

I spent my supper break at work going over the options and opted to go ahead and move into J1048 so thank all for their feedback. I really appreciate Joanie's pictures on the link provided as it showed the lower cabin was a better layout and that helped me make the decision. As others pointed out this cat. J seems square rather than the rectangular cat. I as is on the higher deck.

This newer member is happy he quit lurking and finally signed up here at CC as I appreciate the input and know I'll enjoy my upcoming 'Dam cruise. :)
