Has anyone had a wedding or attended a wedding on a HAL cruise? Am thinking of doing this on the 7-day Bermuda cruise.

My DD is getting married on the Noordam in February. She is so far very impressed with the package and all the things that will be arranged for her. Basically, all she has to do is show up, and everything will be done.

we got married last june onboard the zuiderdam in Juneau! It was great--you get a choice of three basic levels and they take care of everything. Very low stress. You pick the cake, the passages you want read, provide a CD of music you want played, and they do all the work. They have a company they work with (Royal Weddings?) and this is the only way to do it. Cost was less than on land at home. Package also includes photos, flowers, and you get an officiant and a planner. At least in Alaska. if you want to actually get married off-ship in Bermuda, there will be more paperwork and higher cost.

good luck

Wait tuntil you see how the passengers weact to a woman in a wedding dress.

Every place she goes everybody stands up and applaudes. It's something to see.

It's as if the whole ship is part of the bridal party.

Thanks for the info! I think we will most likely get married on HAL in July (NYC -> Bermuda). We will probably get married before our departure so that all of our friends/family who aren't cruising can attend. I spoke to someone from Royal Weddings this afternoon and she sounded super sweet and helpful. Now, I just have to get my fiance to confirm a date...wish me luck!! :-)

We were told by the wedding planner that the wedding party and guests would board very early and that the wedding would take place in the Crow's Nest. My DD and her fiance met in the Crow's Nest on a sailing, so it is a special place to them. I will post after the wedding to let everyone know how it went.

Yes!!! Do it!! DH and I had a destination wedding, and would not do it any other way! We weren't married on a cruise, but we did marry on the beach on Maui. (Never thought about a cruise at the time......). It is so easy and stress free to let someone else do all the planning (with your guidelines, of course!) and setting up. All you have to do is show up! You will not regret it!

Your idea of getting married before departure is a good one because, depending on where the marriage takes place, you might have to "remarry" in another ceremony stateside to make it "U.S. legal".

Was it Tonia? I think they are based up in Vancouver. She was very nice and provided lots of info to help us make the few decisions we needed to make! FYI, if you want any special poetry readings or things like that added to the basic ceremony, you can provide them and they will use/include them

best of luck

My wife and I were married on the Noordam in New York City prior to a 17-day transatlantic to Rome. Holland America Line did a superb job, the service and food was excellent.

My only suggestion would be for the bride to have her hair done ashore, instead, it seemed to take forever aboard ship.

I have some picture links to our Noordam Wedding below.

Congratulations.

Sail, thank you for the good wishes. We are all very excited, and the wedding planners that work with HAL are exceptional. We are so looking forward to the wedding, and we know that HAL will provide lasting memories.
