Two couples contemplate booking HAL’s 26 June Alaska cruise-tour Vancouver to Fairbanks. Since we’ve not cruised on Holland American ship before; we’re open to suggestions on cabin selection and other factors, which we should consider.

Ship? CruiseTour#? (I did CruiseTour #11, with HAL, onboard Ryndam, Vancouver to Fairbanks, June 20th. to July 1st., this year! It was excellent!):)

We did a cruise/tour with Princess in 2007. If Holland offers the land tour first and then the cruise I would do that. That is what we did. The land portion is a bit more hectic and then you can relax and be pampered on the cruise. We also took the train (double decker cars) between stops instead of the busses. It took longer but for us it was much more comfortable and I thought we saw more of the countryside. If Holland does the inner passage get a room that will face the land portion of the cruise. Sailing north you want the right side of the ship and south would be the left side of the ship. Alaska was fantastic. Good luck and have fun.

Thank you for your inputs. We're still in the planning stage, and thinking about category "F" starboard cabins, port should we select a southbound itinerary. Since upgrades to other outside, full-view cabins are not much more expensive, we may opt for an upgrade.
A brochure arrived in the mail today offering $700 pp discounts for booking prior to 30 September. Though HAL might offer other discounts later, we will probably book this month.
