It looks like the verandas on the Veranda deck are not as deep as the verandas on the Upper Promenade deck for the VF cabins. Is this true and are there any other differences besides their relative positions fore and aft?

Deck 4 verandas are 9 feet wide and 7.5 feet deep with a solid steel railing. Deck 5 is 9 x 4.5 with a tinted plexiglass railing. Comes down to space or view, the interiors are the same.

Overall a VD on a Vista is a better choice.

The deck 5 VFs (and VEs) look down on the lifeboats, while the deck 4 VFs don't.

You didn't ask (yet), but the VEs are also just 4.5 ft deep.
