We are signed up for this tour on Regent Voyager. Has anyone ever been there? It is in Santo Tomas De Castilla.

Did the Amatiquebay excursion last March from the Navigator. Unless they did alot of sprucing up since then, it isn't as nice as the pictures show. Not terrible, but we would not return. Decent buffet lunch was included, typical chicken, fish on the grill, etc.

I'm not surprised the resort is "not exactly as pictured". My limited experience (a resort hotel in Livingston for lunch) is that tourist accommodations tends to be "earthy".
We are doing the Rio Dulce river trip, to the indigenous kid's school. We have done it before (with the lunch in Livingston.) It has a modest charge, but is really very good, just saying.

Thanks for the info. I don't think this place is for me. I will do another tour.

First time cruise on Regent Mariner and also stopping in Santo Tomas De Castilla. Any suggestions on other tours... what you selected and liked.
Thanks.

As I think I've said elsewhere already, we did the "VISIT TO Q’EQCHI INDIGENOUS RIVER COMMUNITY" in 2007 and liked it enough that we're doing it this December as well. This is one of the excursions with a charge, I'm hoping that means that the group will be as small as it was in 2007, i.e., around 15 people.

I love beautiful beaches more than anything, and I love resorts with nice pools; however, I just didn't get a good feeling when I researched this place, and my research included reading reviews both on the internet and in travel books. Perhaps if you're with a group that just wants to hang out and party all day, it might be okay (an activity you can do anywhere). I've opted to take the Tikal (by air) in Depth excursion. I was advised even before Regent added this to the list of options that I should visit Tikal if I got the opportunity, as the ruins are exceptional. I notice that it's a 10-hour excursion, however, and the ship is only scheduled to be in port for 10 hours. I wonder what the ship does if one of their own excursions is late returning.

It waits. That's one of the beauties of taking ship-sponsored excursions.

I had planned to go on the ship's tour - we are 3 single ladies - do you think it's a bad idea?

If you're speaking about the Amatique Bay Resort, it just didn't strike my fancy personally compared to the other excursions offered. But it has nothing to do with being male/female/single/couple. I don't think any of the Regent excursions would be a bad choice.

My friends and I are doing more active tours in the otehr ports and thought a beach day might be nice - that's why we choise this one. If I were only doing one tour on this trip, would this be it? Probably not.
I trust Regent's tours completely.
