My wife and I are new to HAL ( but our 10th cruise ) and don't know too much about the social functions on the cruise. If someone could tell us what type of music will be played and what style of dancing we may expect. By the way we will be on the 14 day B2B Alaska out of Vancover May 15 on the Ryndam. Thanks for any info.

There are several music venues on the Ryndam, but two especially for dancing.
The Ocean Bar will have dancing to a Big Band, 50's, smooth dance-music style. Usually there will be a combo, and requests are welcomed.
You can dance there from pre-dinner cocktail time until about midnight. (With a short break between dinner sittings.)
The Crow's Nest will also have dancing pre- and post-dinner. It will probably be of a slightly more modern style. Later in the evening the Crow's Nest will become the disco.
There will be stringed music in the Explorers Lounge. Although you will rarely see anyone dancing, there is a dance floor (IIRC).
There is no dance floor in the Piano Bar on S-class ships, but I guess there is also no law that says you can't 'cut a rug' if the music should overpower you. ;)
