We are a family of four considering booking the christmas 10 day Caribbean cruise but the only category left with any adjacent rooms is D (no butler! how will i cope!!) our TA has offered us either 920 & 922 or 950 & 952 what would be the best option?
I really dont want to feel like a second class citizen on the boat as it is still expensive (over £13,000 cruise only) but in a D class suite would i still be able to book the speciality restaurants? i suppose if you have a butler then they make bookings and arrange excursions for you. Personally i would rather have paid a little bit more and stayed in the penthouses to ensure that i was given the six star treatment, but sadly nothing is available (i need two together) Also the TA has advised me that although the suites she has offered me are not connecting the balconies can be opened up to allow access between the rooms without using the corridor, can anyone confirm that this is possible.
Please let me know what you think, i am very fussy and used to staying in lovely hotels would a category D be a disappointment?

The suites without a butler are just fine. You will not be disappointed. Yes, the balconies can be made to connect.
I have stayed in regular suites and in butler suite (once on that). No appreciable difference.
You can book the specialty restaurants yourself ahead of time online 75 days in advance. You can book your excursions NOW online.

Don't worry, you are NOT made to feel like a second-class citizen because you don't have a butlered suite. I doubt if the butler could handle excursion reservations, and sometimes you do better making your own restaurant reservations.
Rachel's right, if you book, you can go online immediately and book excursions (and change them once you board if you like, just make sure to cancel if you don't want them.) Your restaurant reservations can be done online as well, very soon.
Once you have created your online account and entered your booking number, you can then click on links for the excursion bookings and see a date when restaurant reservations will be available online.

Could you please let us know what ship you will be on? It is best not to have an aft cabin on the Voyager or Navigator. You can have access between the rooms using the balcony. Just ask them to set it up for you.
You will find that everyone on Regent receives the same level of service - whether you in category D or a master suite. In terms of a category D being a disappointment, it should not be. On the Voyager, a Penthouse Suite is only slightly larger than category D. On the Navigator, they are exactly the same size. The only ship that has a significant difference is the Mariner.
It is a good idea to book the restaurants online 75 days before your sailing as they book up quickly (this can be done on the Regent website). If you are sailing this Christmas, you can already book your excursions online.
Just relax and enjoy your cruise!

Ah, I see this must be Voyager (cruise after ours.) I doubt if it makes much difference. 920 is forward, and 950 is somewhat aft of mid-ship, but I doubt it's far enough aft for vibration to be a problem.

Yes its the Voyager so do you think 920 & 922 are in a slightly better position than 950 & 952??
i appreciate your reassuring comments regarding the room category.

950 & 952 shouldn't have any vibration problems because they are forward of the laundry room which is where most of the vibration problems begin according to many reports I've seen. However, given your choice, I would choose 920 & 922 because I think they are in a slightly better position regarding noise. 950 & 952 are closer to the elevators and the stairs. They may be a little noisier from other passengers talking as they walk to and from the elevators or stairs. Hope this helps.

I can't say if one would be better than the other, really. But I find that noise from outside cabins, in general, is minimal or non-existent.

First of all, deck 9 on the Voyager is very good because you have cabins above and below you (rather than restaurants or the swimming pool). If it were me, I'd pick 920/922 simply because they are a bit forward. We have been in 718 and 818 more than once and the "ride" is very smooth in that area.

I would pick 920/922 also, but I think either would be perfectly fine!

Thankyou for all your comments you have really helped me to make a final decision 920 & 922 it is!!
