We are booked on HALs Alaska/Yukon tour #3, starting May 25 on the Volendam. I have booked excursions (both with ship and independent) in Juneau, Skagway and Denali. I keep looking to see if anything is listed at HALs website for the day we will be able to visit Tombstone Territorial Park (from Dawson City), and nothing has yet appeared.

I'm wondering if anyone has knowledge of what will be available. Since the Juneau and Skagway excursions are the only ones listed, it seems like the tour is even behind in offering options for our extra day in Denali.

If there are others on tours with HAL who already have excursion lists for Denali and/or Tombstone, please share and I'll be calling HAL shortly thereafter.

This is a very undeveloped area, great for hiking adventures and camping. Haven't been there in several years but very scenic area.

Hi There,

I have been there personally and just loved it. It is pristine, beautiful, and very much untouched by modern tourism. If you enjoy nature and hiking, this is going to be a wonderful destination for you. There are also less rigorous options available and good information available at the tourist information center. If you're wanting photos that I took at Tombstone, feel free to contact me personally by e-mail and I can send them.

Steve

After all the sitting in a bus we'll be doing, the thought of going hiking sounds great! I read that Tombstone is quite a birder's destination. Any idea about how long of a drive the park is from Dawson?

I'm really looking forwards to seeing some parts of the world we haven't experienced yet.
