Hi Gang - I would like to know if the planner has a cruise that is a 35 day or so leaving out of Boston or NY and return. I know that the Maasdam is doing one on July 16, 2005. It is called a Transatlantic 35 day Boston to Boston. We are trying to figure out what cruises to take in 2006 and would love to have a 35 day or so that leaves from NY or Boston (even Ft Laud) and returns. Penny

The Amsterdam has a 36 day Northern Circle Transatlantic Ny to Ny leaving August 8 2006. It does roughly the same itinerary that the Rotterdam did last year and the maasdam is doing this year, however it has 4 stops in Greenland and 3 in Iceland also.
You can find the itinerary on HAL's alternate site.

How do you find the alternate HAL site? Is the information official?

Debsea,
I wondered the same thing. The information I have from my TA is different than that given above. Either today or Monday I should be receiving the 2006 Cruise Planner she mailed on Friday. Will let folks know what it says when I get it, unless someone else already has.

to get you the link and I found a difference.
The Amsterdam is now listed to leave NY on 5/9 for a 14 day crossing. She is not listed again until July 2, then listed to come back across on a 17 day from Copenhagen on 8/21.
The address is

I think this is a work in progress as it has other discrepancies in dates, so just look at it as a preview of the 2006 schedule.
There are links to other areas beside Europe.
Hope this helps,
GN

as I had to fix it piece-meal.
I have a hard copy of the Amsterdam roundtrip from NY that I printed last week, and it is no longer on the list. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

grannynurse-Thanks for posting it. I wish they still had the Amsterdam as I would prefer her to the Maasdam. (I like the three sets of elevators). Penny

Found the site. Thanks, GN. I'm still liking that 16-day Baltic cruise on the Prinsendam, Amsterdam to Amsterdam, June 24, 2006. DH says not to talk to him about another cruise for 10 years, so the next few cruises will be with DM.

The 2006 planner lists a 35 day (Voyage of Vikings) roundrip Boston on the Maasdam leaving on Jul 1 and returning on Aug 5. Hope that helps.

Information as promised.
Granny PL and others,
As mentioned by c-cruise in the last reply, the 35 Day Transatlantic cruise is scheduled to leave July 1, 2006 and return August 5, 2006. It is a Boston to Boston trip on the ROTTERDAM, according to the Planner, taking the northern Atlantic route. There are 11 "at sea" days, several scenic cruising days, and the rest are port days.

Really? My planner which I just got on Friday definately shows the July 1st roundtrip Boston is on the Masdam. According to the planner I have the Rotterdam is in the middle of a 12 day Baltic from Copenhagen to Rotterdam on Jul 1st. Must be some different versions of this planner going around.....

C-cruise,
Interesting. On the page 40 Schedule, it does show the Maasdam. On page 26 under the map of the trip it lists the Rotterdam. I shall look into this further.

C-cruise,
On further review of the Planner, I suspect that your "ms Maasdam" of page 40 is the correct one, and not my page 26. We hope to go on this cruise. We have had great cruises on both ships.

Hi Gang---I know there is a difference in what some planners say. I hope that the Amersdam or the Rotterdam would be one of the ships that do the NY to NY or Bos to Bos or Fl to Fl. I hate to fly. I will fly to FL but not overseas. So---I am waiting to know what cruise is correct. Penny

OK--BacK again--We so loved Prinsendam Nov. 2004 Amazon Cruise--I know that they have one in Nov 2005 (sold out real fast). If we can't find another cruise to take (I hate to fly) . We would love to take that Amazon cruise again. I don't see it anywhere. Does anyone know if it is in the 2006 schedual. Penny

GrammyPL,
The often referenced 35 or 36 day Transatlantic cruise of the past few years has always been across the North Atlantic and has been Boston to Boston at least one year and New York to New York at least one year. It is sold as a package trip or you can only do one half. The travel planner shows Boston to Boston this year, it is only the ship that is listed differently on pages 26 (ms Rotterdam) and 40 (ms Maasdam). Which ship is correct? I cannot tell for sure, but looking over the Planner in some depth, I suspect (repeat, suspect) that it is the ms Maasdam.
In looking through the whole 2006 Travel Planner I could find no 35 or 36 day cruise FL to FL. All of the southern Atlantic trips seem to be the type trip where the ship stays on the "new" side for some time before returning to the US.
They do have a 25 day FL to FL trip that goes to Manaus, called "Amazon Explorer". Scheduled to leave FL on April 26, 2006. Ship - ms Prisendam.
Hope this helps some for now. Call you TA and ask for a copy of the 2006 Planner. It is great fun.

wander - Thanks for the info on 2006. I really don't want to leave from Fl===but if that is the only place--I would do it. Yes--I did look and so far it is the Maasdam or Rotterdam from Boston or NY. I just don't know yet what ship or time. I do like that you said the Prinsendam is going April 26,2006 as I can't find that listed anywhere. Hubby and I were on the Prinsendam in Nov. 2004 for the Maiden Cruise for HAL for the Amazon and would love to do that again. I just don't see it listed anywere for 2006. Penny

GrammyPL,
The April 26, 2006 departure from FL that goes up the Amazon from FL is diagramed on page 37 of the 2006 Cruise Planner and again noted on page 40 of the Cruise Planner - under ms Prisendam. For this cruise, you can actually board in NYC on Sunday, April 23rd, making it a 28 day trip. However, you still disembark in FL.

c-cruise and GrammyPL,
Boy, did I get things unnecessarily confused! Despite what I said earlier, the 2006 Cruise Planner on page 26 DOES SAY ms MAASDAM! It says
Roundtrip Boston 35 days
Boston to Rotterdam 17 days
Rotterdam to Boston 18 days
ms Maasdam Jul 1
I just read "Rotterdam to Boston" and then read the next line as Rotterdam as well. Sorry.
