May I ask if anyone who has been on the Oosterdam Mexican Riviera itinerary tell me the difference between "Cruising the Pacific" days and "At Sea" days?
We are considering this cruise in November and both are listed on the itinerary.
Thanks!

Hi there!
My best guesstimate is they didn't want to sound redundant and have too many "at sea" days...but I don't see a difference.
What sailing are you thinking about? We're scheduled for the 11/19 (Thanksgiving) trip!

We're not sure which sailing yet but 11/19 is one of the weeks we are considering. I have seen a couple of varying descriptions of the Oosterdam's itinerary depending where you look. One itinerary (maybe Expedia?) actually says that it is in La Paz on one of the "Cruising the Pacific" days. I wondered if they stayed close to shore on these days and perhaps it might be more scenic that a day at sea?
Have a great afternoon!

Don't you just love it when they "cruising the Pacific" when they could have said "sea day". The only time they stay close to shore is when you aprroching or leaving Cabo San Lucas from the north. And then it is only for a couple of hours.
The one I like best is after we have exited the Panama Canal on the Caribbean and they "cruising the Pacific" - Right!

On our latest cruise documents after we leave St Thomas and start to head towards the Bahamas, instead of saying "sea day", the documents say that we are cruising the Caribbean. We aren't even close to the Caribbean at that time.

According to my Sep 2004 - Dec 2005 brochure, the 11/19 trip is:
Sat: San Diego
Sun: At Sea
Mon: Cabo San Lucas
Tue: Mazatlan
Wed: Puerto Vallarta
Thu: At Sea
Fri: At Sea
Sat: San Diego
Let me know if you select the 19th! I'd love to find others on the sailing with us!

That's the itinerary we just got off of. THe only difference between Thursday and Friday "at sea" is that on Thurs you sail NW until close-in to Cabo then head north, a bit further out to sea.

We booked the cruise thinking we were going to La Paz, only to find out that it wasn't on the HAL itinerary. I saw it on Icruise, and called my TA to book. I thought maybe it was a side trip from one of the other islands.
(Example: Cruise stops in to St. Thomas - Take a ferry to St. John.)
Is this not so?
I also thought that "cruising the Pacific" was cruising along the shore line and being able to see the lights. :(

Just sailed Ryndam to Mexico & the Sea of Cortez. Any days worded other than "at Sea" were the same.. I believe that it's just a variation.
"Honey we're at sea today" .. "No today we're actually sailing the Pacific Ocean" *looks around and sees nothing but water* ... "Ah yes, I can tell now!" hehehe

This winter Oosterdam is doing 7 day cruises that do not include the Sea of Cortez. Ryndam will be doing 10 day cruises that do include Sea of Cortez and La Paz.
