Does anyone know where the Nieuw Amsterdam will dock while in San Juan for the day?

Thanks

She will dock in downtown San Juan..... cross the street and you are in Old San Juan. Dock location is very convenient to stores, restaurants, forts....

The pier in San Juan is in a great location, adjacent to the most interesting part of San Jaun.

By the way, If there is an evening departure, be sure to be on deck when you sail. The departure from San Juan harbor is absolutely beautiful on a nice evening, with the city lights and the lighted fortress on your starbord side.

We always look forward to San Juan as a port call.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I figured it would there and not the Pan Am pier because we will be there for a day stop.
I agree with you about leaving San Juan in the evening. I have been on a few that have started in San Juan and they didn't set sail until 10 or 11 at night. This one will leave at 8 so I am sure we will be in for a beautiful site.

San Juan is a favorite port of ours and we love a 10 P.M. or even later departure. We have a great dinner ashore, enjoy a drink, walk back to the ship....... It's a delightful evening. So far, we've been very lucky with the weather on such nights and it's glorious at night.

I have only eaten at Hard Rock and Senor Frogs in Old San Juan. When we have stayed over, I've eaten at some restaurants near Intercontinental in Isla Verde.

Do you have any suggestions for dinner in San Juan? We aren't interested in an excursion there, we've done most of them. So our thoughts were just to explore Old San Juan on our own.

Thanks

We discovered a great restaurant in San Juan last year. The Parrot Club and it's about a 10 minute walk from the ship. We ate lunch there and liked it so much we went back for dinner. This year it will just be lunch since we sail at 8P. I can't give you the address but you can look it up on the internet.

I had a wonderful Cuban sandwich for lunch that I took back to the ship and nibbled on for a couple of days. I think I had shrimp for dinner and that too was wonderful. And great sangria!!

When are you going going on the Nieuw Amsterdam in November? We are going on 11/21/10 for Thanksgiving.

The Parrot Club is well known in San Juan and I agree, it's good. :)

If you are going to take a cab - either the Condado areas or Isla Verde are worth exploring. You will just want to allow yourself extra time - traffic there lately has been extremely trying. Had someone drop me off at the airport on Friday at 1pm, it took almost 2 hrs for them to get back 4 miles in the direction of the port (usually a 15 minute trip that time of day)!

They have had an extremely rainy summer and early fall - hope that you have a gorgeous day but if walking be prepared for rain just in case!

Hope you have a great time!!! I am there on a cruise myself in Dec -hoping for better vacation weather than I have seen while there recently for work. :)

Yes, I agree about the Condado & Isla Verde areas. I have actually spent before and after nights at the Intercontinental in Isla Verde 3 times. Love it there.

But, we are sticking to Old San Juan this time.

Thanks

ndavis7515 -- We're on the 11/7 cruise. Couldn't get flights for Thanksgiving.

We just got our cabin assignments today - from a VF to a VA so we're very excited.

That's 2 weeks before us. You will have to tell me all about the new ship. I am so excited. Have a wonderful time.
