My DH and I are booked on the April 30th to May 4th repositioning cruise on
the OOsterdam. Had planned to book the Statendam but this date worked
better for us. We are in cabin S5186, after reading the boards we switched
to this from 6097 for the extra balcony space.

As this is a shortened cruise I am expecting the cabin amenities to be the
same, but was wondering if there is still a formal night, and if anyone
remembers which night that was. Would like to book the Pinnacle for the
first night and wondered if this was a good choice? And did they have
the suite pax's cocktail party also?

As its DH's first time on Hal and our first time in a suite, I'm sure you can
imagine how much we are looking forward to this!

Anything anyone can add would also be much appreciated!!!!

I've been wondering the same thing ... so thanks for asking. We've booked a 4-day coastal on the Zaandam as she repositions up to Vancouver for the summer's Alaska runs. It would seem almost sacreligious to not have a formal night ;) but it would be nice to not have to take formal wear on this short trip. Hopefully someone will be along soon to answer this for us.

I posted an answer to this a while back when I thought that I was booked on your cruise as well as the one following. Because of my unpleasant experience with HAL over these two cruises I have put all details out of my mind and don't remember what HAL told me when I called to ask the same question that you are asking. Try doing a search under my screen name and you should be able to find my post. It's in either a thread with a similar title to this one or in "Oosterdam B2B Can't Be Done"

We are on the same cruise in 7055 and 7053. We too are planning on dining at the Pinnacle the first night. I am confident the formal night (if there is one) will not be the first night. Also, when we get our documents it should tell us how many formal, informal and casual nights we have.

I found Singerbj's post - quoted "One formal, three casual nights".

We are in 7051. We always go to the Pinnacle on the first night.

Sorry to post and run, but thanks everyone for the replies.

Singerbj......
Sorry about your experience but I will look up your post and see what it says
exactly.

Thanks for the info about the formal and informal nights, my TA said I
would not receive my docs til about 2 weeks before we sail and I honestly
could not remember if that info was sent in advance or not. (I still blame
West Nile for all of my lapses, convenient huh??)

Will also book the Pinnacle for the first night.

Hello Judy!

I see that the two of you will be joining us on the Oosterdam. Beurt and I were on the Alaska sailing on the Mercury with you. We are going to be in cabin #7087 and have friends in #7085 and #7088. It will be nice seeing you again.

We took Beurt's niece from El Cajon with us on a cruise in October on the Norwegian Star. We are also doing the Alaska cruise again this year on the Infinity in September. This time my sister and her husband and some friends of theirs from Illinois will be going along with us and also Gertrude from here who was with us in May.

Hi Jerry,
How are you? My mother will be with us. She has memory loss so I didn't want her to be in a cabin by herself so she will be sharing with us. I remember that Gertrude was with you in Alaska, but I can't picture her. There were a few people I never got quite straight.

Dave, I am sure we will see you next door!

The suite cocktail is 99% of the time on the first evening - usually from 7:30 - 8:15.

I had hoped it wouldn't be held on the first night.......
Decisions, decisions......

I suppose we could always go on the last night, since Victoria is only a few
hours from here and we probably won't be doing that much there anyway.

Judy,

Rick Howell and Carol Andersen who we met on the Alaska cruise in May were just here for a 4 day visit. Since the Alaska sailing, we were with both of them on the NCL Star in October and then I was with Carol on the Monarch in January. We now have plans for another cruise on the Monarch in December with more of our friends and family.

Bev - I just booked the Pinnacle for 8:30 the first night. That way we do not miss the suite reception if there is one. FOr us Okies this is a might late, so perhaps we can consider it to be our breakfast!
