I have posted this on the port forum and am at kind of a loss as to how to find this out. Anyway we are driving to San Diego and I thought I had seen someone say that they parked their car at a hotel they stayed at and was shuttled to the dock, leaving their car at the hotel for the week. Anyone know about this or how I can research it?? Thanks

Once you get some hotel names, go to "West Coast Departures" board and start a thread to ask which ones people recommend.

West Coast Departures?? I missed that one. I'll post on there. I have learned to NEVER stay any where unless I have read the reviews on Trip Advisor...Thank!

Several are offering the stay a night and leave your car HERE (http://www.sandiego.org/article/Visitors/780). We used the Comfort Inn Old Town last year and it worked out very well. Depending on how business is going it seems they vary how many nights will be free (if free at all; might just be reduced price) but we were happy with how it worked out.

You might find a cheaper hotel that doesn't offer this, if this isn't where you want to spend your vacation dollars) and pick a parking garage like the Aladdin that's near the cruise terminal and see if their coupon deal at the time you need it will end up with a lower net price to you. This is inside parking with a free shuttle to/from the cruise terminal as well.

Click>> Comfort Inn Old Town (http://www.comfortinn.com/hotel-san_diego-california-CA120?sid=dsqZg.yrhKtgRm$.15&sarea=&sname=&slon=&slat=&schain=&scountry=&sstate=&type=&sradius=&sstate_country=&scity=) . When you plug in your dates you can select the tab for packages. They offer a park & cruise package. We have stayed there for years and always leave our car in their garage. Parking used to be free as long as you stayed with them before cruising. They have wised up and now offer it as a package. I believe the extra cost for parking amounts to about $40 over the room rate. It's an older Comfort Inn location but rooms have been updated & really quite comfortable. We are currently booked there before our next cruise in Nov. One tip.... I always ask for a room facing the street rather than one facing the freeway as I'm a light sleeper. The rooms facing the freeway have been soundproofed & aren't bad but I always prefer the street side. I understand there are other SD hotels offering similar packages but don't know which ones. Oh, yes, the park & cruise package does include shuttle service to & from the SD port. Hope this helps.:)

Edit: I see that someone else was posting similar info as I was typing

We have always use the Holiday Inn on the Bay across from the cruise terrminal. In january we are going on an 11 night cruise. Staying the night before and parking the car indoors is costing us $288. I like to stay there as when we return I just walk across Harbor Blvd. pick up the car drive onto the pier load the luggage and drive home. Marvin

My choice, every single time I stay in San Diego, is the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter. They do offer a "snooze and cruise" package that includes parking and taxi transfers to and from the pier. But what makes them special is the outstanding location, great staff, cool vibe, delicious on-site restaurant, and incredible rooftop bar/club. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Here is a link to the official San Diego Info site that lists most of the cruise-friendly hotels and lets you know what they offer for parking. It is a good starting point.

I hope this helps. Enjoy! :)

Thanks everyone. I have some research to do, part of the fun! I haven't looked into just parking and breaking up the trip by staying in Las Vegas yet (LV, only a place to sleep and let the kids eat at a casino to get ready for the cruise lol)

I do not know about parking as we fly in but we always stay at the Hampton. We can see our ship come in and their shuttle will pick you up at the airport and take you to dinner as well as to the ship. They also have a very nice breakfast.

Another vote for Comfort Inn Old Town. We have done this before on our Mexico cruises and liked it so well that we are doing the same thing on our upcoming Hawaii/So.Pacific Cruise. If you want to stay extra days their shuttle will also take you to and from several local attractions for free. Cost was more than $300 less that Holiday Inn on the Bay for the 30 day cruise.

We stayed at a Best Western on Hotel Circle and left our car there for a two week cruise, and I think the rate was around $125, which included parking. Restaurant on-site, and free shuttle to/from cruise terminal. Beautifully landscaped grounds.
