I am on the Volendam in March in an S Suite. I am in a wheelchair, and traveling with my daughters, who are not in an S suite. Since I rely on (at least) one of them to push me around the ship, etc., (and we signed up as a "unit") will they likely be included in any invitation I get, or be able to accompany me, to special reception or such? I would not be able to go if at least one of them couldn't go with me.

This subject came up on one of my post. ;)

I got mixed responses as to whether I would be allowed to help/accompany my parents (who are Mariners and I am not) to events in which they alone were invited. My parents are not in wheelchairs, but my Dad is a little unsteady on his feet and my Mom prefers that we be with them as much as possible.

In your case, I see no reason why both your daughters would not be allowed to help you around and go to special events or the Neptune Lounge.

Have a great cruise! :)

You will definitely enjoy the Volendam. This is my favorite ship. Just see the Concierge in the Neptune Lounge, and she should arrange everything for you. If you have Theresa or Hazel as your Concierge, you will fall in love with them. Have a wonderful cruise. You will also have my favorite Captain aboard, so you will be in great hands. Enjoy your cruise.

If your daughters are not staying with you in the S suite, I am a little confused:

Who is in the suite with you? Wouldn't that be the person to go to the suite events with you since that person would be invited also?

What does 'signed up as a "unit"'mean? I doubt anyone not in a suite would automatically get an invitation to suite events.

You've also got me curious. Who is staying with you in the suite?

And that "unit" item - what do you mean by you signed up as a "Unit"?

Sounds simple to me. She and her daughters signed up for the cruise together with their reservations being referenced together for seating (a unit.) The OP is booked as a single in the suite. Her daughters in another type of stateroom.
OP is not totally dependent on her daughters, but does need an extra hand to get around those narrow hallways, passageways and passengers on the ship... while in her wheelchair.

I just talked with my mother. She had a fall over the weekend (actually, two falls) when she became dizzy. Has a huge bruise above her eye and two on her arm after hitting the bedroom dresser and a wicker chair in her bathroom. Looks like DH and I will be looking after two people.
