What time does HAL currently start embarkation in Ft.Lauderdale?
The last time we sailed HAL, we got to port at 10:30 and were on
ship by 11:30 but that was 2 years ago.

I think they start around 10:30-11:00 but I can't say for sure. My flights usually arrive in FLL around noon or 1pm so I get right in.

I believe you start embarkation about 11:30 a.m. or so, cabins aren't ready til about 1 pm or so.

Unless something gets fouled up, embarkation in Ft Lauderdale begins around 11:30. We have gotten on as early as 11:15 and as late as 1:10 after arriving at the terminal at 11.

The last number of times we sailed from FLL, they opened the Terminal Doors between 11:00 and 11:15. Check in and embarkation began at that time.

We have not sailed from FLL for 7 or 8 years. If we should arrive at the terminal before 11:00AM, would we have to stand outside???

Yes, Janet.
If you arrive before the doors open, you will have to stand outside. They normally have the doors open and check in commencing about 11:15.
Have a great cruise.

Thanks a bunch--you probably saved us some "standing time". And thank you for your kind words.
Since we are supposed to be on the Statendam as we speak--we had to cancel 10 days before the Hawaii/Tahiti cruise-- we are especially looking forward to our Zaandam FLL to VR cruise.
I rarely post, but do read these boards frequently and always enjoy your well informed comments.

Thanks SAILS7SEAS, actually it's for my 25 yr old son who was a cruise
lotto winner prior to the jackpot bingo on the zuiderdam (you were on the
same cruise sails). He talked me into buying 2 $10 lotto tickets. He won, so
good for him. He just got back from teaching English for a year in Japan
and had to use the free cruise immediatly, so he's going on the Westerdam
Feb.6th. (We haven't been back on a HAL cruise since then). Sailed
Celebrity and Princess since then. When we do go with HAL it will be with
another "S" aft wrap balcony so we can be EXPOSED.

I'm glad to read that. We've never taken a cruise before and we booked our air flight to arrive in FLL on the day of embarkation. We're due in FLL at about 11:40. Your post makes me feel a little better. From reading other posts, folks seem to get in a day early. The last thing I want to do is miss the boat, the second to last thing I want to do is spend a day in FLL.

I remember when you said your son was going to Japan.....I remember you posting when he left. It's a year ago already???!!!
Wrap around balcony aft on an "S" ship? I don't think so. The Statendam sisters don't have suites facing aft. The aft pool is on Navigation Deck where the Suites are. The Suites end before the pool area.
Only Vista ships have the "S" Suite wrap around verandas.

A great many of us do arrive in FLL (or whatever embarkation city) at least a day ahead of boarding. DH and I often come two or three days ahead. We love FLL. We also like the peace of mind knowing that we are in the city where we will be boarding and do not have to trust the airline to actually get us there as promised if we are flying 'on cruise day'.
