I know i got the seating I wanted, but how do I know if I got a deuce? (I do not want a duece - I want an eight person table) Will I not know until I am on the ship?

Let's say we end up at a two top. Am I offbase in thinking that if I place a request with the maitre' d once on board, I'd be subjected to being moved to a fairly dysfunctional table after 1st night?

If you requested a large table then you won't get a table for 2. Never. There are too many folks who request them and don't get them.

Since you requested a larger, there isn't any reason why you shouldn't get such a table. The people who request tables for 2 or 4 are likely not to get their wish as there are fewer tables for 2 and 4.

Agree with above. Also, as soon as you board, see where the m'd will be and when that day, and go see hm immediately to check size of table and how many. If it is not to your liking, request a change. Earlier the better.

One caution. You may ask for a table of 8, and they may put you there, but that doesn't mean there will be 8 at the table. Sometimes people move to another seating or just never come to the dining room for dinner, so then you are stuck -- has happened to us.
