Great condition after coming out of dry-dock in early 2010. We cruised to Alaska in May, and it is the same wonderful ship that we were on in 2002! Love that size ship--have been on Maasdam, Statendam and Ryndam.

Good food in May 2010, and our cabin was great (except for location and that was our fault.)

good to hear......our TA was quoting an HH cabin for us, but it seems they are "fully obstructed"....true? they seem to be located on the lower promenade deck....maybe they mean the life boats are hanging above.....but wouldn't the window be unobstructed?

:D We were on the Ryndam on the first trip out after dry dock, it was great! New carpet, new showroom, clean and in good order! We were in cabin 339, upgraded from the HH we booked. The obstruction for us was the railing and live boat hanging above, but it was not bad at all. We are going again on the Ryndam in 11 days but this time we booked a suite. We are looking forward to being on the Ryndam once more!

The lifeboats don't cause the obstruction on the Ryndam---on any of the S- and R-class ships. It's the metal structure of the ship itself that's the obstruction.

Look across the promenade on Lower Promenade Deck. Near the forward end, the aft end, and a few spots in between, there's metal from the deck all the way up to the next deck. The cabins across from those areas are either fully or partially obstructed.

However, just check the deck plan--we ended up in a HH cabin right under the galley! Sounded like roller derby until about 10:30 at night. We didn't hear anything in the morning, although some people have complained about early morning hours!

We could see out, but we never spent enough time in the cabin to worry about whether the view was obstructed.

Whatever you decide ENJOY!

Thanks KK, glad to know the Ryndam is still in great condition.

We were under the galley once (did not know it at the time we booked) and I was awake until about 12:30 a.m. each night. DH slept as if nothing was going on.

here's the deal. HH gty.....good price. but...reading about under the galley cabins....what if we get one of those ?

the lower promenade deck is the only affected deck of course....has anyone else had bad galley noise from a LP cabin under the galley???

i must decide by this afternoon if we book. acckkk
