When we were in Lisbon in November, we booked a room at the Hotel Metropole. It's a 3 star hotel conveniently located in the heart of town and it overlooks a main square with water features and statues. We had a wonderful view of the castle on the hill at night! If I remember correctly, the price was very reasonable and it did include a hot breakfast. The room was clean and most of the staff spoke english. We would not hesitate to stay there again. We had free internet access from the main lobby area and we used it to keep tabs on the presidential election here in the states and to check web based e-mail.

I think you can view the specifics about the room if you go to the Expedia web site and type in Lisbon.....scroll down to the Hotel Metropole. Or....Check out www.almeidahotels.com (http://www.almeidahotels.com/) or e-mail them at metropole@almeidahotels.com.

The room was large with a reasonable size queen bed and full bath. It also had a small balcony. The safe in the room cost an additional 1.50 euros per night. That's about all I can remember....

If you give us a price range can help you.. otherwise I suggest the RITZ ;-)

Thanks me too ..about the Ritz.. I think I am in between the Hotel Britania ad Hotel Lisboa Plaza.. We need it to get the atmosphere.. I think the Metropole is right in the price range 150-190 for the night.. but sounds noisy..:)

I need to book a 1/2 tour of the city after we get off Oceania ..on the 25th in Lisbon-(Aug 13th-25th)..We fly out early the next day and wanted to end our trip with one night in Lisbon.. thanks for any help! Pam

A quick search on the internet shows the Hotel Britania to be four star, and charges roughly 200 euros per day. The hotel Lisboa is five star, normally charges 400 euros per day including breakfast and taxes, but there are Summer speicals at some 600 euros for three weekend nights. Hope this helps.

thanks for the help I will check on those places mentioned. I was actually searching the net and found the Britania and the other hotels tied into that group..I will look at the palace..I am so excited to do this cruise..doing my research rather ahead of time...I need a half day tour company in Lisbon, and then we are done with that last destination and fly home the next day.. We are on the August 13-25 cruise from Barcelona. Can't wait...:)

We'll be there for 3 days in April and have booked the Avenida Palace - great location for restaurants, shopping and exploring - in the heart of Lisbon.

It looks really great and they are charging 155 Euro's ..so it looks like we will probably do that ...I also like the Plaza lisboa and figured that it was also in a good location..I get a little confused on location..The all say their hotels are in a good location..Where are the art museums and shopping? For me that is a good location! Maybe they can arrange a 1/2 day tour?..thanks for your insights :)

We did book the Hotel and it got such rave reviews and it looks lovely.. We got it for a very reasonable price and might even take a 1/2 day tour from the Hotel in the afternoon ..You sound like an experienced traveler..:)
