Leaving next Saturday, can't wait! How is the in-room wifi connection on the Eurodam? Thanks!

Not sure if I should bring the laptop. Any insight would be helpful.

The strength of your in-cabin signal will depend on how close you are to one of the hallway antennas pictured. However, even if you get an excellent connection to the ships server, the performance will still be slow because the bottleneck is the satellite link. If you bring a laptop you can save time and money by doing your e-mail reading/writing off-line by using a mail handler such as Windows Live Mail.

I just got off the Eurodam last week. 17 day (Oct 6-23).

I had excellent Wi Fi connexion in my room, I was mid ship on Deck 4.

There is also Wi Fi in many locations on the ship (hot spots).

Bringing your laptop means saving time and money especially if you can use a mail software that allows off line access to your emails. That way you can read, delete and answer off line, great time saver. I would bring my laptop for sure.

I too had excellent wi-fi in my stateroom on the Eurodam last year. You'll find hot spots SOMEwhere. So take your laptop. But know that the internet is agonizingly slow no matter where you are on the ship, slightly better--but not much--in the Explorer Lounge. Early mornings seem to be a little faster.

We left Eurodam Saturday and had WiFi in our cabin, as well.

You can purchase Internet Packages or pay 75 cents per minute.

Package for 100 minutes is $55 plus start up charge of $3.95.
Package for 250 minutes is $100 plus same start up charge.

The price is the same whether you use HAL's, or your own, computer.

It costs $3.95 to set up an account. Then you have the usage charge: It costs either:
$0.75 per minute or
$55.00 for 100 minutes or
$100 for 250 minutes

If you purchase one of the packages on the first day there are bonus minutes. If you have one of the coupon booklets, you can also get an additional 15 minutes.

Near the end of the cruise there are smaller packages of 15 or 30 minutes. These are good for airline check-in, or updating the folks at home re: arrival plans.

Do suite passengers get any free minutes?

No. We pay the same as everyone else.

I always bring our Acer Netbook and love having it along.

That stinks. Princess gives suite passengers unlimited free minutes.

That's why we all make choices and decide which cruise line provides the most of the things that are important to each.

I'd rather pay for Internet Minutes and sail HAL for all they do provide. I don't expect every cruise line to be all things to all people.

There are things on HAL, I imagine, that Princess does not include or offer.
