We have cruised only on Celebrity, and on each cruise past and future, we have booked a Royal Suite. We enjoy our space, having a butler, and we do spend a lot of time in our cabin and out on our veranda.

We have been researching other cruise lines for cruises to book in early 2006 [to warm venues, as we live in the high mountain desert, which gets very cold in the winter], including Oceania. What caught our eye about Regatta is its size, the reasonableness in price for its suites, as well as warm weather intineraries in January and February.

We would be interested in hearing about the Vista Suites as well as the amenities that go with booking such suite. Also, am interested in the liquor policy on Regatta, because we do enjoy having and sharing cocktails with others in our suite.

Thank you for any information that you can give to us.

I'd go with an Owner's Suite, which is in the stern of the ship. The wraparound veranda is huge, you don't have to worry about keeping your curtains shut at night to avoid blinding the staff on the bridge, and the vibration of your engines is like having a Magic Fingers massager at no extra cost. :-) (My wife and I had an Owner's Suite on another former Renaissance "R" ship and loved it.)

Oceania's liquor policy is discussed at length in another recent thread on this forum; as I recall, the bottom line is that (a) you can bring your own booze on board, and (b) you can have your own wine served to you in the restaurants for a $20 corkage fee.

Just returned from the 01/18/2005 LA to Miami Panama Canal sailing. MY wife & I had 7004, which is better than deck six. It's a lovely, large suite, which we enjoyed. Elegantly appointed with absolutely nothing in disrepair. The two bathrooms were handy, especially with guests. Yes, there is noise on the bow, but we did not find it excessive except when dropped the anchor. Then again, we are very early risers. There is NO light from the bridge in spite of what others have posted. On many a night we left the dense curtains open and there was not anything that interupted our sleep. In suite dining was as advertised ( we did it three times - one can order from ANY restaurant despite what the brochure states). The butler was a treat. Canapes every night plus just about anything eles you cold ask of him.

Actually, I believe the previous poster was talking about safety concerns with guests needing to keep their curtains closed in order to avoid distracting, or as they said "blinding", the actual officers on the bridge.

Not sure if that would be an accurate concern or not, since I have yet to sail on Oceania...my first experience with the line will be in November 2005.

Vista suites are at the stern ( front) and owners suites at the rear and basically they are the same..depends what your preference to location is ( and price as OS are more $$).
For privacy I would go with OS.. and larger patios ( not balconies by any means- huge)..

Claudia, the bow is the front; the stern is the rear.

Having spent a week in #6002 on the Pacific Princess, the bow, and, having visited two different stern suites for cocktails, the stern is easily the better choice. Of cource, there is a price differential on Oceania.

oops..gotta go back to ship 101..
we always book the aft OS ..we love the privacy back there..besides the dividers between the cabins are totally enclosed..

Having just occupied a Vista Suite on the Regatta, I would opt for it again over the Owner's Suite...would much prefer to see where we're going as opposed to where we'd been...especially true for going through the Panama Canal. Even though we had traversed the Canal several times, the view from the veranda was extraordinary...would recommend it to everyone.
