Just made a decision to upgrade to SS on Zuiderdam. Now on Navigation deck. Those who have recently sailed this ship, please inform on the following:
1.has the upgraded bedding?
2.has a no-host mini-bar? what exactly is this?
3.any other perks with SS?
4.anyone who has been in both categories, is it significantly larger?
5.any issues on being on the highest passenger deck?
Thanks!

Your questions apply to all Vista Class vessels:
Yes, all HAL ships have the upgraded bedding.
Just like a minibar in a hotel - there are drinks in a fridge that you have to pay for.
Not really...
Yes - its over 150% larger.
None at all.
You've made a great choice - the SS's are my favorite category - Enjoy!

We enjoyed our SS on the Westerdam, I liked the jaccuzzi bath.

As far as perks go you will get personalized stationary, the bathroom is larger with a tub and shower and two sinks, the queen size bed is very close to king size (bigger than my queen at home). We loved the SS cabin we had last year so much we booked one this year too. The verandah has 4 chairs, two with foot stools and a table. There is much more counter space in the SS than a regular cabin and a larger TV with a DVD player.

Your shoes are shined if you want it, laundry and dry cleaning done, cocktail food in your suite each afternoon for you and your guests, Neptune Lounge right near by with snacks and drinks, off and on the ship faster, concierge to book tours, etc., and special Captain's dinner and lunch. Once you try it, you won't want anything smaller! We are looking forward to leaving Friday on the Statendam, for the 15 day Hawaii cruise. Aloha, Al

No Alvin - that's part of the problem...
Except for the shoe shining which is available for everyone, SS's dont get those perks - only S and PS passengers...

Brian - Good catch. Once again the HAL naming problem raises its head. Not all "suites" are "suites" and, as you correctly point out, an SS is not a suite in terms of HAL suite perks.
Oliviaonthe Beach - I have a few pictures of our SS on the Oosterdam posted to the web here: http://photos.yahoo.com/randyk_47 (http://photos.yahoo.com/randyk_47) These are basically my raw photos from our cruise so there are duplications and some not so good photography included. My wife draws what she thinks are the best from this file to build our webpage: www.geocities.com/theklugspage/ (http://www.geocities.com/theklugspage/) It's a great cabin even without full "suite" perks.
