I tip a couple of bucks for room service. A little more if it's a full meal. Your cabin steward will handle your laundry, so the ship's auto-tip will take care of that (plus any extra you want to give him/her for extra service.)

Each time.

You probably won't have the same steward again with room service delivery, hence the advice to tip each time.

Don't the room service personnel share in the auto tip?

Yes, the room service personnel do share in that $4 that is left to be divided among many people - it's pittance what they get out of it.
Therefore whenever we have breakfast delivered we always tip the person at Least $2 right then and there since we never know who will be delivering the next time we order.

Most of the time, your regular cabin steward will deliver your laundry. You probably would not tip him specifically at 'laundry delivery time' but would give something extra at the end of the cruise....if you wish to.
I agree that the pittance the Room Service Stewards get from the automatic tip does not amount to very much. We always tip each time the Steward brings our order to us.
I have never known this to be the case but on our recent Veendam cruise, our Assistant Dining Steward also delivered our Room Service breakfast every morning. I don't know if some of the Assistant Dining Stewards always do Room Service in addition to serving in the dining room.
Seeing as we thought him a great fellow and really enjoyed Bruce, we were delighted that he brought our Room Service for the whole 12 days.

This is why I don't like the auto tip. It becomes a non-tip. You end up tipping just like before and you still have to pay the auto tip.

Hi Ruthiegirl,
We're also leaving on the Westerdam on the 6th--only 3 more days!!!! We read some of your postings and it seems like we have a lot in common. We also love wine and history. Do you think you would like to come to our room and drink some wine and discuss history with us in a private setting? We have made great friends this way before. If interested, pls. reply to message.

Thanks for asking the question. I forgot about the laundry, glad to hear it is the cabin steward. I would have felt bad if I had forgotten to tip him. I will definetly need to make sure we bring alot of $1 bills.
