I booked an inside guarantee on the Ryndam and have just found that I have been "upgraded" to an outside (obstructed view) stateroom on the lower promenade deck. If anyone stayed in such a stateroom, can you tell me:
1. How noisy is the area? i.e. can yu hear people talking outside or jogging early in the morning?
2. Do people ever "peek" into the window? Do you have keep your shades drawn all the time?
3. Any other comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

I don't know the Ryndam layout, but on our recent Maasdam cruise we loved the LP deck. Jogging was not allowed, only walking. I never heard any "people" noise out there ever. The crew does wash down the deck to get rid of salt water build-up each morning. DH says maybe one time he heard them out of the entire 11 days. We closed the shades when dressing and at night - otherwise they were always open. The only one who "peeked" into the window was DH making faces at me one day! One time we wanted to know if our room had been made up so we both pressed our noses to the window - but really couldn't see in well enough to tell. Unless we win the lottery and can go for a private balcony we will always booked the LP deck. It was wonderful to be only a few steps to an outside deck! Hope you enjoy too!

I was upgraded to a similar cabin on the Rotterdam and was fine with it. There was nice daylight for a change; this is also quite helpful when heading to bed at night. I kept the heavy draperies open with the sheers closed. Works fine.
Do be aware that on the S-class ships the outsides on this deck (and an obstructed on LP is set up the same) are smaller than the insides.
What's really nice is that you are always steps away from a very large veranda!

The primary advantage is having the largest balcony on the ship.:)
I've never noticed any extraordinary noises or disruptions. You will want to check the polarization on your cabin's window - some are less opaque than others. You'll also need to keep the drapes closed at night. Other than that, most people favor the LP deck.
