Please help us decide. Has anyone stayed at either and what was your impression?

See my review of the Westin at TripAdvisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60750-d218780-r1645814-The_Westin_Horton_Plaza_San_Diego-San_Diego_California.html) , a great place to get good hotel reviews. I don't know the new Marriott, but the older Marriott properties (the Marriott Marina, Coronado Island Resort, Marriott LaJolla, Courtyard downtown) that I've stayed at have all been uniformly good.

I am sure I already read your review, but I will go check it out again.;)
The problem with the new Marriott is that there are no photo's or reviews out yet. It just opened in December.
OK - Read it and I didn't remember it. Did you stay before the renovations? obviously, it is an older hotel. The Westin we stayed at in Vancouver was brand new.
Did you stay at the Marriott Marina on your last cruise? I checked and there are no rooms available for my date, so I think we will go with the new one in Gaslamp.
