I just have to share my excitement. I just got off the phone with my TA and booked the Oosterdam Mexican Riviera for Nov 2005! I'm so excited and anxious at the same time. I'll be cruising solo for the first time as my husband will be in Iraq. :< My birthday is the sailing date and I just coudln't face being at home without him on my birthday. It's hard enough being away from him on a regular day.
I've booked a C-Guar. First time with a Guarentee cabin, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the upgrade fairy. If I get upgraded, I'll be thrilled. If I don't get upgraded, I'll be really happy to be on a cruise. I got a really great price for being a solo traveler, plus triple American Express reward points, so I'm pretty happy. :>
I've been on the Zui, but this will be my first time on the Oosterdam. I'm looking forward to seeing the difference.
Just had to share. I hope to get a chance to meet some of you!

Congratulations on booking and also going on your own for the first time. I am sure you will have a wonderful cruise and meet lots of new friends.
It must be awful to be away from your husband for so long. My thoughts are with you and him.

Congratulations on your booking. What a great way to celebrate your birthday. We all pray that your husband returns safely home from Iraq. My BIL is over there now as well, and we are so proud of all our military.

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts towards me and my husband. I asked him if he was ok with my going on a cruise while he's in Iraq and he thought it was a wonderful idea. So, I'm going to raise a glass of wine to him and all the other men and women in our military every night at dinner to thank him. This is a horrible war and imo, none of us should be over there, so I pray every night that all of our soldiers come home safely. I just can't wait for him to come home so we can go on a cruise together! We're already planning an Alaska cruise for 2006 and we're getting the best suite possible! :>
Anyway, thanks again!

Congrats on booking your cruise. We did that itinerary last November and the weather was wonderful. Thoughts are with you and husband. iI must be so difficult being apart. That Alaskan cruise will be especially wonderful!

Iggi----I've watched this thread for a few days and I can no longer resist the urge to ask the question. I was on the Olvia cruise with you April 2004. Do you now have a "husband?" Or are you sailing without your partner who is serving our country? Sorry, perhaps I am confused. Either way I hope that you enjoy your cruise. I'm looking forward to the April 2005 cruise with Melissa Ethridge and many other women who are joining the leadership summit. Have you considered that cruise?

I'm not comfortable answering such personal questions on a public forum. Please feel free to email me at iggipolka@yahoo.com I'd love to do another Olivia vacation, but I just cannot afford their single supplement price. Oliva's prices are high in general, cruising or a vacation single is astronomical.
