Although Statendam makes two full transits on this cruise we have only one stop in Panama. Fuerte Amador at 6pm until 4am the following morning.
Any suggestions for an evening/nighttime stop. The ships excursions (three) are not very appealing. It's also Jan 2, a Sunday evening.

Amador is a tender port, so . . . 6pm probably means 7:30 pm by the time you get a tender ticket and get ashore. There are some nice restaurants near the tender pier in Amador, some shops, and some clubs. Great views of Panama City all lit up at night. I'd go to a restaurant with a view of the city, and there are several a little way in on the causeway, have some drinks, have some ceviche or fresh fish wiht garlic sauce, browse and walk around a while and head back to the ship.
Not sure why they do this . . . I guess it gives them another "port of call" . . . but it's kind of lame to bring people into Panama for a few hours at night.
I suppose if you want to go out drinking with the crew until 3 am that's another option.

Thank you, Richard. That sounds like a good idea to at least say we were in Panama. Hopefully we can find a place open on a sunday night. As my husband does not do well walking far we will just look for a taxi to take us to a nice restaraunt.

I lived in Panama many many years ago. I returned for a visit in 2008. One night, went to Fort Amador (used to be a US Military base!) to the Mi Ranchito restaraunt. It is very casual, busy, and perhaps a younger crowd. It has good Panamanian cusine and a great view. Ceviche and Corvina and Cerveza Panama among many others. I don't know where the tender docks, but it can't be far. There are several other restaraunts in this area, but this is the only one that I have been to.
