View Full Version : Amenities on Zuiderdam including iron? Fruit baskets?

I don't like to iron much on vacation. But I will have a couple of items that need pressing by the time I arrive. Do the rooms have irons? I know I can pay to have items pressed, but I was just wondering if there were other options.

Also, I read last night that fruit can be provided in your room each day by request. I thought this was standard. We're in the deluxe Verandah Stateroom-VA. What are the included amenities in such a room?
Thanks in advance for giving a couple of first-time cruisers some advice!

Irons are not provided in the rooms, they pretty much discourage this as its a fire hazard. HAL's other non-vista style ships have a self-service laundry with an iron and ironing board, these vista style ships don't have this convenience, which I know i'll miss on the Zuiderdam.

Bowls of fruit are now provided in all cabins, or at least they were on the Rotterdam last March.

Have you ever tried Downy Wrinkle Release? It works really well for us.

Thanks for the info Doone, and thanks, Jim for the helpful tip! My mom swears by that stuff! Great idea!

Pressing service is available for a nominal fee. Tell them what kind of fruit you like and thats what you'll get. We just told our cabin steward.

Dawnie, I agree. I made a comment about it on another thread last night.

I pack our clothes in plastic cleaners bags and leave them on the cleaner's wire hangers. Just about nothing gets wrinkled. The air that gets trapped under the cleaning bags and between the garments keep the close from getting bad wrinkles.

You could consider bringing a travel clothes steamer if you wish. They are permitted.

I don't care for the 'hang it in the bathroom and turn on the hot shower' thing that some folks do. I've tried doing that and wasn't pleased with how my clothes felt for hours later.

Could anyone tell me if there are ATM's on the Zuiderdam?

Thanks!

No ATM's on any of the ships. You can cash Travelers' Checks at the Front Desk. You may also be able to get a cash advance against a credit card, but there is a fee for that.

Isn't there a way to get cash at the casino and put it on your shipboard account, with no fee????

I love your quote also and it inspired me to update my profile to include the quote I put on the inside cover of my planner every year. I hope it shows up for this post and everyone loves it. Here goes...

There's a 3% fee on chips which you can then, of course, cash in at the cashier's window. Not much different from a port-side ATM
