Me and my new hubby are leaving on a Celebrity Galaxy cruise next week, and we just found out that we were upgraded to a sky suite! With us being first time cruisers, we have no idea what this means! All I know is that my parents are really jealous and said we will have a butler?!??!

Please, if anyone can offer any information we would greatly appreciate it. We are sooo excited!

Thanks!

We were in a Sky Suite on Galaxy on the 3/19 cruise and have one booked for our Galaxy 5/21 cruise. They are a little bigger than a regular room. The SS's on the Penthouse deck have smaller balconies than the SS's on the Sky deck. Our 3/19 SS was on the Penthouse deck. Our next cruise we will be on the Sky deck. The butler service was nice. With it, you can have a cooked to order breakfast brought to your room, which we did every day. Also around 4, he brings "tea" and around 5:30 or so brought appetizers while we got ready for dinner. They can arrange other things, parties, shore excursions, etc., but we didn't do any of those things. The bathroom is much nicer...marble, lots of storage space, and a jet tub instead of just a shower. There were the 2 of us and we didn't even come close to using all the storage and closet space we had in the room. Enjoy!

You will find that whilst the depth is the same as others, there is more width in the Sky Suites which means the bed faces seaward. You also have sliding patio doors, rather than a single door opening outwards.

Having a butler is very nice, but bear in mind he looks after about 10 other suites, so if you are thinking about a get together in your cabin or dinner there one night, give him a day or so notice. A tip as this is your first cruise. Breakfast in the normal way the first morning and suss out what you like and then as Becky says, order your breakfast in your room from then on. Very civilized!

You will love it! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also, be prepared in your budget as you will have a Butler and a room Steward and the requested tips for each are the same. $3.50 per day per person for each one.

Good point Don. Here is a website that helps with calculating the suggested tip. You can of course vary this according to the service you have received:

We also are the Galaxy next week. Are you planning on attending the cruise critic party? If so, we'll see you then. My husband and I are also in a suite for the first time, it is very exciting. What deck is yours on?

Hi!

My DH and I have had sky suites on Galaxy twice. We also wrote a review of our first cruise on the Galaxy and there are pictures.
You can find them at www.eadarain.com (http://www.eadarain.com)

However, if you're looking for the definitive review and a great story, check out ChesterH's review. You can find it at http://www.chesterh.com/cruises.htm

You'll love the sky suite and the butler! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We were upgraded on the Constellation to the Handicap Sky Suite. Having a butler was great and we figured that when you deducted the amount we would have spent on espresso & cappuccino (both free from the butler), the tip was negligible. We had cappuccino for breakfast (after he finished delivering breakfast to everyone since it was a special trip) every morning we could. He delivered our breakfasts, the canapes, the afternoon tea (we couldn't eat it all, but it was nice to know it was there). I don't know if the Galaxy does it, but we got a free bottle of champagne with the suite. The only problem is it might just spoil you for the regular cabins. We are back in a veranda cabin in July and I'm hoping I won't feel cramped. We could have danced in our Sky Suite.

Hi all, just curious as to how you came to be upgraded, what your original booking was for etc..

We had a Sky Suite on the Millennium. It was VERY nice.I have been in all kinds of cabins, inside , outside, balconies. The Sky suite of course has a lot of perks, like the butler, BIG walk in closet that has an automatic light when you open the door etc. But the ONE thing I loved the most... was the soft cozy bed! No waking up with a sore back.
