Hi,
I'm about to book 1 night Tamarind and 1 night Pinnacle grill on our 7-day Caribbean cruise.
I read in another thread that it's best to do this on a non-formal night as the food in the MDR on a formal night is usually better than normal. What is everyone's opinion on this?
If so, I understand that formal nights are usually on the 2nd and 6th night, correct?
Thanks,
Vincent

Yes, formal nights are when they commonly have the lobster or crab legs.
Formal nights vary a bit depending on itinerary. Usually the first is on the first sea day, but might be done on HMC day if you go there first. The 2nd formal night is usually 3 or 4 days later, depending on which is a sea day or early-departure port day.
p.s. The Nieuw A is my favorite ship! Great choice for your first cruise! :)

The last night in the dining room is the Master Chef's Dinner - they incorporate a bit of a show into the serving. It's fun once - then you really don't need to go through it again.
Therefore we enjoyed the Pinnacle on our last night.

We didn't have a Master Chef's dinner on our East. Med cruise this fall on the New Am.

I decided to do the Tamarind on the last night (a/k/a Master Chef's Dinner) because it's on a deck that's much higher up than the main dining room and I won't have to hear all the noise coming from there that night.
Now I just have to figure out which night to do the Pinnacle Grill.

Don't forget to make a reservation for lunch one day at Tamarind. It's a different menu than the one for dinner and lunch is free.

are the formal nights usually on the 'at sea' days - i will be doing the 7 day caribbean cruise on the eurodam and want to eat at the tamarind while not missing out on formal nights

The formal nights are not always on Sea Days -- it depends upon the itinerary.
Looking at the Eurodam's 7 day Itinerary -- your formal nights will be on the Sea days.

We're going to try and do Tamarind for our last night to avoid the Master Chef's Dinner, too.

That is what we do. We also book them on the first night, they used to have discounts on the first night but that seems to have gone away.
