Nothing new. CSI:NY has aired an episode with this occurring. We bought wallets/passport covers from Magellan's several years ago that protect our information from 'Electronic Pickpocketing'.

You might try try typing "RFID blocker" into Google. You will only get about 110,000 hits.

We have cards with chips. They may be secure today but who knows about tomorrow. Thieves are very resourceful.
I do not know whether there is truth in this however I was told that the banks and credit card issuers like chip cards for two reasons. The first is security. THe second is that there is a move afoot by the industry to make cardholders/debit card holders entirely responsible for all transactions including fraud. The banking person who told me this appeared to have insight...hopefully the regulatory agencies will not let this one slip through. We never, ever use debit cards.
