The last week I've tried to post a pretty short message with no luck--what's going on?
Thanks--Kel

This works--I guess because it's very short???

I've not had any problem, but some people have. There's a "sticky" from Host Walt on the main page that explains the issues.

Tried again this morning; no go. It's just about a 200 word message and I've tried cut and paste, direct typing..., nothing works! Oh well.

I had trouble last weekend - so did LAFFNVEGAS. She got a reply from Host Walt and passed it on.

Make the "Title" shorter and don't use any punction marks. I tried that - and it worked for me.

Make the "Title" shorter and don't use any punction marks. I tried that - and it worked for me.And once the thread has successfully posted, you can go straight back into the original post and edit it (including the thread title) to whatever you originally wanted.

I've tried twice now to post a new thread ... also very short ... and have been unsuccessful thus far. I'm trying to find out if anyone has returned from the Statendam's 30-day Hawaii/South Pacific cruise and has any thoughts they can share. But, the thread just won't post, so I guess I'll have to keep trying.

But, the thread just won't post, so I guess I'll have to keep trying. As already said, the trick seems to keep the title very short when you initially post - the length of the post may matter less. You can then go back in and edit both elements.

thanks to jhannah, Krazy Kruizers, Globaliser and Kryos I got it to work. Some how I managed to double post, but it worked.

So: Keep the title short (edit later)
Don't use many punctuation marks (edit later)
No smiles (add later on edit mode)
Maybe even break the message up into segments: posted as a reply

Thanks again, and happy posting

Go to the Hotel forum on this board and ask your question there. You will have much more of a chance of an informed answer there. Also do a search on that board.:)

CC will not let me post question there either.Have you been doing what's been suggested earlier in this thread? That seems to work for most people who are having problems.

If not, you should try this:- Go to the forum you want to post in Click to post a new thread Type "test" in the title Type test in the message body Submit that post When the forum listing comes up, go back into the thread Click the button near the bottom right hand corner of your post for editing the message Edit the thread title to whatever you want it to be (very important for other readers to see what you're asking about) Edit the body of the post to whatever you want it to be Click on Submit changesAs I say, that's the technique that's basically been set out earlier in this thread. If you edit the post fast enough (using copy and paste from a Word document, for example), the post may not even say that it's been edited - I think you get 2 minutes or three minutes to do it before the post announces to the world the fact that it's been edited. But no rush - I think you get an hour to complete the edit.

I'd just like to say thanks for the info on how to get around the problem I've been having with posting my latest question to the board. I even contacted Walt for advice (Hi, Walt! Thanks, Walt!) and then I tried shortening my title and not using punctuation in the title, and it finally went through. I'm glad this thread popped back up to the top. Thanks again!

Ask a cruise question?? did the "test" thing and it worked. Then edited it.

What a way to do things...tried everything else. Cruise critic board comes thru again...

Thank you all so much for your advice and help! I realize now what the problem was when trying to post my query about the 30-day Hawaii/South Pacific cruise. My Title Line was waaaaayyyyy too long and the new thread wouldn't post. I shortened it, and now .... wala ... I have a new thread started.
