I remember that you cannot take flowers off the ship at cruise end....if I buy my wife some roses for our pre-cruise dinner in FLL tomorrow night, will she be able to bring them on board with us to brighten up our cabin?

It might be easier to just order them from HAL today before you leave. They would have them sitting in the cabin waiting for her. Call Ship Services at 1-800-541-1576 and they will do the rest. :) One dozen long stem roses for $39.

You can call ship services and arrange for the flowers to be in your cabin. You can also call a florist directly in FLL and they will be able to deliver the flowers directly to the cruise ship, the cruiseline's staff will place the flowers in your cabin. The advantage is you'll get to speak directly with the florist about what you want to order. As a florist, we have done this on many occasions when a ship is in port. The procedure may be different for ships dock at the terminal in FLL though, not sure.

While we were waiting in the lobby of the Embassy Suites in San Diego for a shuttle to take us the pier, there was a woman sitting with a huge bouquet of roses. As it turned out, her husband and she were also going to the Statendam. Her son had sent her roses and she took them on the ship with her. Her cabin steward got a vase for her.

No problem taking flowers on the ship.

In the past, we have purchased wonderful flowers when ashore at Caribbean ports. No problem bringing them aboard.
