Only one thing wrong with their description of HMC...there are supposedly 10 cabanas on the beach now, not 8...but who's counting?? :)

I don't think we are going to rent a Cabana.....we have heard rave reviews...But, we would rather walk the island, find somewhere romantic to lay out, leave our cares behind.....you know.....But I have read some awesome reviews of the Cabana rentals...........I hope everyone is enjoying the CT stories--I have been busy reading up on Tortola through a link a fellow CCer sent me-thanks...........

It can get quite hot at HMC so if you don't want to get a cabana you might consider a clamshell for the day. They are only $9.

What is a clamshell? Can you rent them in advance?

A clamshell is this blue tent-like structure that stands up like half a sphere (maybe) and keeps the sun off you as you lay on the beach. These are quite big so not to worry if there is two of you using one. You can book one with Ship Services or on the online excursion form. (Sorry if this description is a bit vague but I have only seen the clamshells, never had one personally.)

Hey Ehrkes!
Your posting on the Tribune caught my eye. Nothing better than sitting in on a cold(?) Sunday with the paper. We moved to AZ almost two years ago and that is one of the things I miss down here....besides the food. Thanks for the memory!
Also, you'll love Tortola. Pulling into that port is one of my favorite cruise memories. Absoultely gorgeous with lots of other islands nearby...like a dream!
Enjoy!:)

Every year the Trib takes a Sunday and their travel section features cruising.
I saw that HMC made the front page of the travel section.
