OK, we were going to eat at Canaletto on the Eurodam but never got around to it, then we were going to eat there on the Zuiderdam, but never made it, now we are going on the Westerdam and we are going to make it there (going to make reservations right away). I searched the boards for info regarding the Canaletto on the Westerdam but was not able to find anything. Anyone have any information on this particular one? Any menu suggestions?

Canaletto is the same on all ships that have a Canaletto (only Prisendam doesn't have one). The menu is the same.

I realize that they all have them however from reading the posts different ships have different "quality", the same as the Pinacle. Some ships are really good, others are just OK. That is why I am asking about the Westerdam in particular. Thanks

You can only make Canaletto reservations onboard the ship. They cannot be made online before the cruise.

We ate in the Canaletto last night and enjoyed it very much. We really just wanted to escape the Master Chef's Dinner on the last night, but the service was much more polished and the food was good. DH had the spaghetti and meatballs, and I had the lasagna. Both very good. I would recommend.

We ate at Canaletto on the Westerdam earlier this year and thought it was so-so. In fact, we didn't even both with it on the Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago because of our very average experience on the Westerdam.

We enjoyed the Canaletto on the Westerdam last month. There is no extra charge and you will be served much faster than either the Mai n Dining room or the PG so it's a great option if you want to get to a show. Food is so subjective. For us it was about the same quality as the MDR, but a different experience, and well worth trying.

We just got off the Westerdam and enjoyed the Canaletto food twice. The Penne alla Vodka is fabulous! We were satisfied with both the food and service there.

Thanks for all the input. I know food is very subjective even between my wife and I, but not seeing any really bad reviews makes me feel better. Hope everyone has a happy holiday

Hello,
Just got back Friday/31 Dec. frm Westerdam.
Ate at Canaletto and the main dishes were not good at all.
We are from NY and know Italian food.
We ordered Veal and it was dry, cold and covered w/BARBECUE SAUSE??!!
Terrible tasting. The pasta that came with it was overcooked and the sause was sweet tasting.
Had Tiramisu Trio --- Not even close to tasing like Tiramisu.
The garrlic bread was good. Soup were not.

Service slow. We cancelled our second reservation at Canaletto after this dinner.

One thing we noticed is that the silverware is not very clean. Many times found small pieces of food stuck(dried) on the silverware.

This was our expereince.

I was on 12/17 and 12/24 sailings - ate there one time each cruise. Ordered the same things both times.

First experience the antipast platter was great with meat, goat cheese, peppers, mushrooms, squash and zucchini- second time had only meat and mushrooms. First experience the entree was great (penne pasta in vodka sauce) second time - passable at best. Service the first time excellent, the second time, I had to wonder if I was even on the same ship!

I agree with 1 Peninsula that the garlic bread is good but the tiramasu not so much. I would have never guessed it!

I say go just to say you did - and hopefully you will have a good experience!!!

having the Caribbean menu in the dining room. They have some very good and cheap wines not offered in other venues. Especially the Montepulicano de Abruzzo. If you know about them you can then order them in the dining room.
