I was suprised when I got an email from HAL yesterday about booking Alaska Excursions. This has got to be a first for being available this early:eek: I know in past years it would sometimes be Late March Early April before they actually had excursions available. Now I did not go thru the process with my booking number but it sure appears to have most all the excursions available.

So many people ask for this early so they can start planning and budgeting.

Did they tell you the time they depart and return?
I'm on a tear right now as I just discovered the Americas Brochure for 2011 - 2012 doesn't indicate time ship arrives or departs from any/all ports. All they say is 'full day' or half day and evening'.

Ridiculous! How silly I want to know what I'm buying for my cruise.

I'm sure there are folks that don't like this post at all but I don't like this new 'system' at all.

I have this silly idea I'd like to know how long we'll be in various ports before I buy that cruise.

Sorry, Lisa.......

I shouldn't have taken off on your thread but I think it applies. One can guess when the ship will arrive by how many hours for the tour they are selling.

Sail what particular Date/Ship? All the itineraries for cruises I can see on line have the times as well as I also have the HAL Ship Schedule for 2011 to see where each ship will be every day. So if you want me to look something up? Not that it cannot change but it is usually pretty close. I think the brochures just do not get technical with exact times and when you actually go to book the exact times in port are listed.

The whole 'Americas Brochure for 2011-2012'.
In all the years we've sailed HAL, I've never seen a brochure that didn't list arrival and departure times and that's a lot of years.

Yes, of course, I know the times can change but I've never seen described as half day/full day.
I just started reading the brochure this afternoon but did not go to the HAL site.

:D Sail I understand that but is there one particular ship or port you are interested in knowing the time? I think that you will most likely start finding that all Brochures will not give the times they are in port. Basically it is too much information that needs to be proof read. If someone is interested in a particular date/port they can easily find the information on HAL's web site or thru a TA. The Brochure is just to let you know where each ship will be for the 2011-2012 year and to tempt you to book and or least figure out where you want to cruise. That brochure is already quite large and information like that changes frequently so I can see why they do not print the times they are in port. For the most part there really is not a need to the average consumer when looking at the Brochure.

sail7seas - that is strange. We were looking for an Alaskan cruise in 2011. Have Princess, Crystal & Oceania brochures for 2011 & they list port times. Hmmm.

Before we left for Ft Lauderdale in November we had already booked our tour for Ict Straight Point.

I also received the email and just logged on to HAL website with my booking number and yes, you can book Alaska Excursions. Our cruise is not until September, but it's nice to know that I start planning (any paying) now.

I booked our shore excursions for next August in Alaska about 6 to 8 weeks ago. It never occured to me to look to see if they were available at that point but I read in a CC post that they were. It was quite a surprise to see them there so early.
