thought it was just "okay",,,glad he went,,but not as spectacular as he was hoping for,,,much time was spent on directions,,,and he has some experience,,,,then not as much time for actual dive,,,and the sea life,,,and coral,,or lack thereof,,,was not what he had expected...So,,,it really depends on your expectations and experience.....give it a shot,,,was better than one I took,,,city tour and island overview....never did the shopping and too much time spent at small mexican museum...imo...;)

Thanks you for your response. This is too funny....I was asking because my husband is signed up for the scuba. I signed up for the city tour/ island overview/shopping, that you took. Was considering changing over to the scuba..but am a tad nervous about the whole idea of scuba...Therefore the post for info!!!!!!
Well if there was not much shopping time I may just as well go into Cozumel on my own or just stay in town after the tour.I believe I read that was an option.Decisions, Decisions:p

Let's keep in mind that this is a scuba experience for complete beginners, so I'm sure they will take time to allay your fears, and that's what the experience is designed to do--to give you a chance to try it out. And it's also understandable why someone experienced would be bored. I've only snorkelled on Coz, and it was disappointing--they lost more of their coral reefs a few years back in a hurricane. On our recent return trip, all water sports were cancelled because of weather--choppy water, winds, low temps.

My husband and I did the Discover Scuba while in Coz in Nov. It was our first time diving. I was nervous too, but I am glad I did it because now I know that I am interested in pursing a diving certification and it was an included excursion so I guess it seemed worth it. The location of the dive and the lack of underwater coral and fish was very disappointing. The education time was about 20 min. on land and then you get your gear on and walk in from the shore and another 10 min. education in the water and the dive was about 30 min. But there was not a lot to see.
If you have any dive or snorkel experience it will probably be a big disappointment.
