Thinking of booking a VC shower-only cabin on N. Amersterdam. Taking my 83 you parents, and my mom may have trouble climbing in/out of tub. Cannot afford a Suite category with a separate shower. So, what is the scoop on the VC shower only rooms, are they smaller ? Any pix ? Any other differences. We do not want, nor need a handicap room, my Mom is not disabled in that sense, and all the 'wheel chair' accessible features of such a room are necessary.

I see you have not had any answers to your post and as it has now slipped from the first page and may have gone unnoticed by those who know more than I do, I thought I may just try and help. The VC cabins are 254 sq ft with verandah - the same size as those with tubs as well as showers. Could I suggest you look at Joannie's pictures of cabins on abqreunion2008.com - I hope this is right but if not possibly someone else will point you in the right direction. Joannie also narrates which are shower only cabins and which are handicapped ones. She has done a wonderful job on that website. In any event, I do hope your parents enjoy their cruise with you on the Nieuw Amsterdam.

We were in VC5180 (shower only) on the Eurodam for 2 weeks and loved it. We are in our mid 20's and didn't need it, but got in on a VH gty. It was very comfortable and the layout was great. Plenty of space for our 2wk trip. If I can help any more let me know.
