My husband Ted and I are thinking of taking the 2nd segment of the 2012 Mediterranean and Black Sea Grand Voyage on the Prinsendam in 2012. This segment is for 26 days and starts in Venice and ends in Ft Lauderdale.

My question is this. When you are taking the 2nd half of a grand voyage can you be part of the roll call for the whole voyage? I have tried looking at roll calls for grand voyages but it doesn't seem they are broken into segments. Are additional meet and greets set up for new passengers or would we just forego one? Just not sure how this is handled and how we would be able to meet CC members that have been on the cruise from the beginning.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. This would be our first grand voyage and since we are not as yet retired we are unable to cruise for a longer period of time. Thanks.

When we booked a few segments of the WC, I just participated in the regular Roll Call. The folks on for the full voyage made us feel welcome and arranged a M&G for after we boarded. YMMV

Enjoy!

This segment appears as a separate voyage out of Venice and since it is not until 2012 most likely someone will start a roll call.
Enjoy!!!

Thank you both for your replies.

It appears that each roll can be different based on your answers. Apparently, there is no hard and fast rule one way or the other.

Not only have we participated in roll calls when only on a segment we have found that we are accepted as part of the group both by roll call participants and our fellow cruisers once on board.

Jump in, become part of the group, and have no fears, only enjoy.

Arzz,

Thanks again for your great information. You actually got right to the point where I was heading. My concern, was of course, getting onboard after the other passengers have had over 30 some days to develop friendships, that we might have a hard time mixing in.

The social aspect of the cruise is very important to us and we have met some wonderful people from Cruise Critic on our cruises.

You have alleviated my concern.

If we do book, I will just jump into the roll call and take it from there.
