We're thinking about the Eurodam North Sea Adventure Sailing on July 31. I always receive the best advice from CC'rs. Please forgive me for a long post, but I thought that would be better than multiple threads.

First, I'd appreciate any advice about the advantages of a port vs starboard cabin on this voyage.

Also, since we're traveling with children, we would like to have adjoining verandahs. We've been looking at the Upper Promenade deck, since that deck seems to have the adjoining cabins. I've read many threads (thanks to all of you, including Joanie for her great website) and think I understand, but could you please let me know if this is correct? ... on the Eurodam Upper Promenade deck, the VFs have steel railings, but the VDs (toward the front and toward the back) have plexiglass (?). I think I've read slightly different answers to this, but I may just be confused -- Do both have the same width balcony?

Lastly, have you had any noise issues in the Upper Prom VF or VD categories?

As always, thank you so very much for all your help:). I truly appreciate it.

I think I've read slightly different answers to this, but I may just be confused -- Do both have the same width balcony? Correct. Only verandas 4001 to 4042 have the steel wall railings. All the the Vx cabins are 9 ft wide, but the depth varies from 4.5 ft (deck 5 VE and VF) to 6 ft (side VA/VB/VC) to 7 ft (deck 8 V) to 7.5 ft (deck 4 VF and VD).

Lastly, have you had any noise issues in the Upper Prom VF or VD categories?
We had an Upper Prom stern VB on the Noordam that had strong vibrations, so a VD back in that vicinity on the Eurodam may have the same issue.

We were in VD 4048 on our Eurodam cruise out of Rome in May. The VD rooms have plexiglass railings and deeper balconies by about 1.5 feet. The room was plenty big enough for the two of us. Our kids were in another room but not adjoining. We chose a J on the main deck for them for the spaciousness of those rooms. However the kids were older so being separated was not a concern for us. There was no noise in our VD room. VD 4048 connects to 4050 so that is a possibility for you. There was no noise from the elevators either which are close by.

I said that all Vx balconies are 9 ft wide, but there's an exception: on the Eurodam, the balconies for 4166 and 4168 are 18 ft wide because they split that space between them. 4168 has a shower only.
