We are considering taking the Apr 10 Zandam, San Diego to Vancouver.
I noticed that they also have it split, you can do a 10 day Mexico cruise and a 4 day Vancouver cruise.
Does this mean if we book the 14 day cruise to Vancouver, we will have to disembark in San Diego and then get on again, and go through the whole life boat drill again???

Has anyone done this itinerary?

You won't have to disembark on your return to San Diego, but will have to go through the long US immigration inspection on board (along with everyone else). After that, you can get off or just stay on board.

Usually HAL ships excuse back-to-back cruisers from the second Muster Drill, some do not. It is not a big deal and is important, anyways!

A nice itinerary. (An even better itinerary is to do the Collector's Voyage to Hawaii first). Coming up the coast can be a wild ride if the seas are going "the wrong way".

Feel free to ask more questions!

If you do the 14 day itineray -- you will have to go through immigration in San Diego -- you will receive a letter the last night of the first segment indicating what you are to do the next day.

We have done several repositioning cruises -- and every time we get to San Diego -- something goes wrong. One time things went soooo wrong that all we had to do was show our passport as we left the ship -- very late in the morning -- and do whatever we wanted to do.

Sometimes we have been required to get off the ship in San Diego to go through immigration -- other times -- didn't have to get off.

It all depends on what happens with people not following instructions!!

NO -- you will not have to go through annother lifeboat drill -- we never had to in that port.

We sailed San Diego-Vancouver last spring and had a lot of wind and some rough seas. The promenade deck was closed for two days. Still, we had a great time on the short cruise and would do it again in a heartbeat.

That happened to us as well in 2008 -- very bad winds and storms after we left San Diego.
