Those of you who have returned, how long does it take for the shore Exc people to disembark and then for those of us with private drivers to get to the Cable cars to go up? Help!!! Thanks, Sherry

The shore excursion people will disembark by tender. Don't know what your port time is schedule for, but ours was 7am, and the tendering started a couple minutes late. Then we moved to the second tendering area, and we were on the first tender ashore by about 8:30-8:45.
So, the first tender operation takes about 45 mins, then a short (15 min) sail to the second location. People are already moving to the departure area on the ship. We had a maybe 10 minute line (we were the second ship in port, a Costa ship was in front of us) for the tram.
Over all it is pretty efficient, as they use about 10-12 local tenders during the rush, with two offloading docks on the side of the ship. We were on Noordam.

will also have a bearing on how long it takes to get to and on the cablecar.
Check to see what,if any, other ships are there, and the passenger load and their time of arrival.

Sorry, if this is a bit off topic, but reference Santorini (an amazing Island) and the cable car...When you are returning to the tender area to return to the ship be certain to give yourself enough time to get on the cable car.
At the end of the day, depending on how many ships are docked, hundreds of people line up to use the car (reminiscent of a stadium emptying out all at the same time).
The line snaked around the streets and shops, some tempers flared after a long, hot day, and some folks panicked that they would miss their departure.
