Maasdam for Sale?

I was on the Maasdam late in 2004 and several folks on the cruise said the ship was being sold? Can this be true??? Someone just told me about this site and I thought maybe you could tell me something?

I haven't heard or seen anything like this posted. I think it's very unlikely they would sell the Maasdam at this point.

I agree. I have read nothing to that effect on this board, and can't understand why it would be true. The Maasdam is a fairly young ship with lots of years left in her. The S-class ships as a whole are very popular.

Could the rumor have been about the Prinsendam?

I believe Walt checked into this a couple of weeks ago and found that they are "actively" pursuing a buyer for the Prinsendam. As most of you know, she was formerly the Royal Viking Sun but is not very new. We loved her in her glory days and REALLY love the size.

I very seriously doubt that MAASDAM is for sale. Mind you, just about any ship is for sale at the right price, but unless someone comes up to HAL and offers some insane amount of money for her, I wouldn't expect to see her going any time soon.

The Prinsendam was an older ship when HAL bought her.

She may or may not be sold first.

The Maasdam is not as old as the Prinsendam, but with all the engine problems, etc., that she has been having the last few months, if the right buyer came along, she could be sold.

For HAL's sake, I hope that if someone wants to buy the Maasdam they don't insist on taking it to their mechanic first.:D

Statendam is the first of the "S" Sisters so is the oldest. If HAL was going to be starting to sell the Statendam Class ships, wouldn't it seem that Statendam would go first?

Given that Maasdam will be getting the Signature of Excellence enhancements (like Ryndam, Zaandam) April 7th, 2006 for 21 days, I do not see how this would be an option.
