Looking forward to getting my "food on" and have been running extra miles in anticipation of 5 square meals a day. Any suggestions you might have for a good place to grab a "snack" in the afternoon would be very appreciated. Thank You!

Most afternoons, they serve tea. Usually it's in the Dining Room. Also ususally, they have a Dutch high tea, and an Indonesian tea once a cruise. This is not recommended for those with early dining....it's hard to get hungry again quickly enough!:)

We were on the Nieuw Amsterdam on 12/26 for the New Year's cruise. The Cellar Master -- an incredibly knowledgable and hard-working guy -- had wine tasting every night around 5 pm to taste that nights recommended wines with some kind of food (different every night). The first night's tasting was in the Silk Den and there were sushi appetizers/rolls from the Tamarind next door. There was a charge but it was waived if you bought a wine package.

Other places to have a "snack" -- the Slice Pizzeria, the Burger grill on the Lido deck by the indoor pool and in the Lido -- the Asia bar had good food and the Pasta station seemed to be open longer hours.

I like the Burgers and Taco Bar on all the HAL ships. They are made fresh (Burgers) and they are delicious.

You can also order room service 24/7 and it is also free. I highly recommend the Club Sandwich.

we just got back. The pizza has horrible. Burgers ok. Best lunch we had was Tamarind. It is free and very good. Just make sure and get reservations when you board.

and in case you end up in a deluxe verandah suite, let's not forget all the yummy munchies in the Neptune Lounge :) You can never go hungry no matter how hard you try on a cruise :D

Thank you all for the suggestions. I have been on several cruises and have noticed that some of the munchies around the pool area have been down-sized or eliminated altogether.

The salad, sandwich and ice cream area will also still be open until around 4 PM in the Lido.

Do the men need to wear suits to the Pinnacle Grill.
The Pinnacle Grille follows the dress code for the rest of the ship. On smart casual nights, however, you may see some men in suits or sports coats while dining in there.
