I wonder how HAL determines which states to make offers to?

Rhode Island is one of the select states; I'm from Rhode Island! :)
I take long trans-Atlantics! I'm even booked on another one for this summer. ;)

But there's never a special on the cruise I want! :(

Whyyyyyyyyyyyy??????????????????????????????????

Ruffin, something is going on with this cruise. Evidentally it is not selling well. The HAL web site hasn't reduced prices but most categories are still open.

I had booked my SS with a very good rate with my usual TA several months ago. IT was comporable to about a half dozen sites I had checked and considerably less than HAL's web site. I just found an on-line site that was $750 less for the both of us. Didn't believe it was real and my TA agreed. Well I booked it, got an e-mail confirmation with a HAL booking number, checked the HAL site immigration forms and I was there. My credit card had a hold put on it and when the charge goes through I will cancel the original booking.

Since you are going on this cruise I will give you the web site name by e-mail if you are interested jrhoff@optonline.net

My TA was so surprised she asked me to e-mail my confimation to her. It could have been a mistake in the rate in the database but I got it.

PS I am not in one of the preferred states.

For anyone interested in this cruise, check out the thread I started in the "Europe" forum called "Do-It-Yourself Ponta Delgada". I'd take the trip just for this stop—it's about 15 miles from where I live. Actually, I'll be doing the transatlantic in November, going the other direction.

We have noticed the same things as well.

We have done several full transit canal tours in the past and it seemed like HAL had offers on nearly everyone except the one we chose.

That's right. There's no need to run a sale on popular items. :)
