Does anyone know of another reasonable way to get there other than a ship's tour? Is it possible to combine a trip there with a little beach time?

The cruise ship tour called "Los Haitises" also includes a beach break after visiting the National Park (private beach at Las Cayenas).
Celebrity also offered another shore excursion, very similar, under the "Cave & Mangrove exploration" that included after the visit to the National Park a beach break at Cayo Levantado.
This port of call (Samana) is pretty much covered by the cruise line (only Terry is allowed to offer the alternative, similar price basically shore excursions).
The only other way to get to the National Park "Los Haitises" is making arrangements for a private excursion (speed boat) with pick-up from one of the local hotels.
For a pre-view of our recent Holiday cruise that included this particular shore excursion via the cruise line, feel free to check the first part of the online photo album:

We're sailing with HAL, and their excursion doesn't seem to include a beach break, just the tour (4 hours). $300 for 3 of us seems a bit steep
Do you have any idea how to go about arranging a private tour?
