We are cruising on the Westerdam on 7/30 out of Copenhagen. What hotels do you all recommend for one night stay before the cruise? Love reading the reviews. Thanks in advance.

Check this link (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=113265&highlight=Copenhagen+hotels) where you'll find several suggestions plus links to sites to search for hotels.

We stayed at the airport Hilton both pre- and post-cruise. It was very convenient since we had an early morning flight out, so all we had to do was walk across the street.

If you really want a special treat, the Hotel D'Angleterre is a very historic, luxury hotel with a fabulous location.

Walkable to Stroget (Pedestrian shopping streets) and to Tivoli and Nhaven.

We have enjoyed several fabulous stays there.

Hi There,

If you would like a nice balance of savings and good location, I highly recommend the Scandic Hotel Webers. It is just a few steps from Tivoli Gardens, Strøget, and the Rådhuset. For venturing off further, a bus stop is located just outside of the hotel. I did nearly two days of sightseeing all by foot, though.

I have a comprehensive review of this hotel and Copenhagen on ShipCafe.Net under "Europe Travelogue 2003". Below are a couple of photo examples of the hotel.

Scandic, incidentally, is a lower-middle-market Scandinavian/European brand of Hilton. Good for people collecting Hilton points...

I can highly recommend the Phoenix Hotel. It is a 4 star with wonderful staff and in a great position.

"Experience an unforgettable stay, door-to-door to the Royal Palace at this very elegant hotel. Lovely deluxe style 4 star hotel offering a taste of luxury."

We found it very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble.

Try the Marriott. It is new and conveniently located.

I'll second with Shipcafe - I also stayed at the Scandic Webers last summer - so convenient to everything. Small hotel, but wonderful.

We stayed at the Scandic when we were in Copenhagen after our Baltic Cruise. It is very convenient--we were able to walk to Tivoli Gardens, City Hall, the Stroget, and even ventured to Nyhavn and took a boat cruise. Originally, we had booked the Hilton, but discovered it was quite far from the major tourist attractions and decided to switch. The Scandic was very nice--modern Scandanavian furnishings, great comfortable beds, and a nice location.

We stayed at the Palace which is close to Hotel D'Angleterre. All hotels in that area are quite convenient but are also subject to jarring "bongs" from the rather loud City Hall clock tower.

Hi, I've just booked this cruise for 19 August. Have you had a look at Tripadvisor.com? I've used them in the past to get a feel for hotels and it's pretty good. I think the Radisson SAS tops their list, but I haven't had a chance to look at prices yet!

Have stayed at both the Hotel D'Angleterre and the Scandic. I agree with what S7S says about the D'Angleterre and we loved it, however the Scandic's location is better for walking to Tivoli and the very center of Copenhagen. We booked both thru HAL but I am sure there is quite a difference in rates between the two hotels if you are booking on your own. Why not try looking up these hotels on the internet?
